I wish for an anime, set in the Japanese campaign of World War 2, that captures the attitudes and views of the era. Much like "Letters from Iwo Jima" or "Oba: The Last Samurai", movies that I absolutely love set in the perspective of a japanese soldier.

There is incoming a I.G studio's movie about this era
There's that Ghibli movie about that aerospace engineer guy. It's not about a soldier, but the movie was true enough to the era to get criticized for stirring up the old ghosts.

Why aren't there any good shows about the holocaust?
>>140623517
Got a title?
>>140623556
I'd prefer non-fiction though
>>140623586
no aerospace but kaze tachinu is about a guy who designed the zero plane
Look up Showa: A History of Japan. It's only a manga though.
European Front was far more interesting imo. The Japs just lose every encounter, they were a cake walk.

Could always go with the prehistoric animus pushed out by Japan's propaganda ministry.

That's Zipang for those who can't read moon runes

Not to the British, Chinese, French, or Dutch. Even to the Americans they did okay for a while.

Is this pic supposed to be some steampunk rendition of WW1, with the sides being split between organic humanists vs mechanical augmentation?
>>140623418
What movie?
>>140624064
Found it
Just look at any fantasy H-OVA about some kingdom being invaded by monsters that rape and kill indiscriminately.

The Chinese were far more concerned with fighting each other. British and Dutch were ill prepared for tanks and were far more concerned with defending against Nazi Germany than pathetic satellite colonies. While America only had a difficult time at the beginning because they focused man and resource to Europe more, only 15% of all war resources and effort were directed to the pacific.

>designs aircraft
>not just wing spars either, he ends up with a pioneering design for a whole new plane
Sounds aerospace to me.
Here's the trailer, BTW:

Second best engineering porn anime movie out there.

Are you chinese or just trying to prove that you're not a weeaboo?

But China was the Russia of WW2. They came down with the Commies and spent much of the war convulsing in bed
>>140625557
They signed a temporary truce to deal with the japanese. The nationalists were then wrecked by the nips while Mao-tan did jack shit. Though if you ask that anon, he'll probably tell you it was the opposite and that Mao-tan singlehandedly drove the nips out of China.

Perhaps the closet you'll get to it is The Cockpit. I recommend it nevertheless. It's an OVA with three stories set in the WWII, the first one is about a Nazi plane pilot, the other two about Japanese.
And here's The Cockpit trailer:

Go back to your moe threads. The grown-ups are talking.
>>140623340
Do you think they could pull it off without it being a nationalist piece of propaganda trash?
>>140624689

Came here to mention this.
As long as this is half as good as the manga, this is going to be the best movie of the year and the only legit candidate for the Oscars Japan had in years.
Words cannot express how hyped I am for it.

I didn't know aerospace literally meant the space that contains air, I thought it was some high altitude shit
