And speaking of Jigen's Gravestone.

Just got my BD in the mail today. Kind of funny how I own 3 different Lupin BD's and none of them is him wearing the red jacket considering that's the most common color he wears throughout the movies. Once I get the Part 4 BD, i still wont own a red jacket Lupin BD, unless Discotek decides to release a Mamo BD by the time it comes out.

My copy of the Discotek green jacket dvd (original, not the slimpak) came in yesterday. I plan on watching it tonight.

Got the SH Figuarts on PO; just waiting for amiami to bill me.

Making my way through the manga, reading it during my breaks at work. I've never read the manga before, so it's a new experience. Only finished the first volume, and I'm liking it a lot so far.

I want the original set of the Green Jacket series, but I dont wanna pay $40 for it. I paid $30 for the Fujiko series but at least that had a dub in case I wanted to check that out. It's just not worth the price and I dont want to settle on the slimpak. That Fujiko series can go for over $50 nowdays by the way.

I pre ordered the SHF Lupin. Can't wait. Hope we get a Red, Green, Pink, and Cagliostro version as well.

I have all the Manga volumes. Almost finished with volume 3.

>>
>>140588031
I found it factory sealed for $35, which isn't a bad price at all.

I went ahead and POed Fujiko as well as Lupin, since I knew I would also want Jigen and Zenigata. Figured I may as well get the whole crew. Sucks that both Jigen and Zenigata will be exclusives, though.
>>
Where do I start with watching Lupin?
>>
>>140589086
1st series
then a mix of 2nd series, Mystery of Mamo, then Castle of Cagliostro.

You're welcome.
>>
>>140588990
exclusives to what?

I may get Zenigata and Jigen, ONLY if they dont release the other Lupins from the different series.
>>
>>140589086
Just stick to the manga, the shows and movies are watered down unfunny shit.

Best stick with the original.
>>
>>140589492
You're the first and only person to share that opinion.

I will admit the Manga is funny, but the shows are GOAT. Telling people to not watch them is just bad advice.
>>
>>140589434
Webshop exclusives, meaning you have to buy them from direct from Bandai. Turns out that the POs are already up for them both, so I just ordered them.

Jigen's due out in late September, Zenigata in October.

No word on Goemon, yet.
>>
>>140589875
>implyingWebshop exclusives, meaning you have to buy them from direct from Bandai.
is that a bad thing? You planned on getting them anyway, I dont see how ordering them from a different site is unfortunate?
>>
>>140590017
It's usually more expensive that way, and if you regularly buyfag from a particular retailer, you won't be able to combine it with a standard monthly order.

In some cases, exclusives require a proxy if the manufacturer doesn't ship overseas. Bandai has a global shop so I don't have to deal with a proxy/forwarder, but it's already costing more per figure than what I got Lupin and Fujiko for, and the shipping is more expensive as well.

Mate, you don't have a leg to stand on. Anybody outside this insular fanbase will be bored to tears by most of what Lupin anime has to offer. It's toothless mass produced dreck, always has been.

Bad advice? In my eyes, that's telling newbies these things are fucking GOAT. If you want Looney Tunes watch Looney Tunes, at least those old cartoons had some thought and love put into them. Unlike the average Lupin episode.
>>
I've always wondered what Lupin's hairstyle is. I mean the anime just draws it as a blob

Is it a slick back old fashioned style, or is it a dense puffy style with a short fringe?
>>
>>140590759
It use to be Slicked back, but nowadays he just has short hair which is nice. He may have short bangs that stick up but it depends on the angle he's facing.

>>140590576

BUMP FOR MY MAN LUPIN
>>
when do you guys make these threads? I'm not a big anime guy or really even a 4chan guy. But I LOVE LUPIN. What's the usual day these open? I'd prefer friday or saturday nights.
>>
How much do you think the Lupin part 2 collection will be?

Under $300?
>>
>>140594559
It's usually Friday and saturday late evenings to nights

sometimes we may have one on mondays or tuesdays. There's no exact date, but we try to make one every 3 to 4 days, but the main days are usually friday and saturdays though.

It use to be on thursdays when the new Lupin series was still airing, but thats not the case anymore.

Plus if there is any new Lupin news. Like a release of something, I try to make a new one
>>
>>140589492
Hey fuck you. Return the Treasure and Stolen Lupin are 2 of the best anime films.
>>
>>140594661
well they are selling it individually. If I had to guess, They will will probably be $35-$40 a set. I
m gonna assume there will be 4 sets all together. So at the most, you're probably paying $180. MAYBE $200 if they wanted to be greedy, or if you're lucky $150.
>>
>>140594737
No they arent. you could argue that they are in the top 10, but they
re definitely not the best.

also, dont reply to shitposters.
>>
>>140594688
that's fantastic! here's to western release of Italian Game :D
>>
>>140594887
If we're lucky, It may come with the Part 4 BD set when Discotek releases it.

Is Italian game any good? Is the quality higher than the actual series?
>>
>>140594886
then what would you put in top 10?

Stolen Lupin and Return the Treasure are wonderfully told, briskly paced stories with smooth natural exposition, no plot conveniences, top notch character dynamics, well utilized tropes and subversions, powerful meaningful climaxes, well-structured humorous scenes with great timing and payoff
>>
>>140594981
ooh that would be nice. I haven't seen it though, but what I've seen from the trailers, the story and action look superb.
>>
>>140586602
I always love these polls but it's tough to pick. when it comes to longstanding franchises, I love all parts because of seeing artstyles and progression through years so it's hard to pick a best. I face the same with Bond and Final Fantasy.
>>
>>140595141
in no particular order

Cagliostro
Mamo
Fuma
Babylon
Missed by a Dollar
Walther P38
Jigen's Gravestone
First Contact
Tokyo Crisis
Dead or Alive

I'd also like to mention the 1st detective conan crossover as a bonus. It was quite nice. You could argue between your picks and some of the ones Ive thrown in there like Tokyo Crisis and Dead or Alive, but I think I choose very wisely for the rest.
>>
>>140595415
Part 1 to part 2 was more of a downgrade than a progression
>>
>>140595615
Babylon and DoA???

What??

Tokyo Crisis is a definite though for the fatherly limelight they give zenigata. that's a touching film.

And Missed by a Dollar?? That's a terribly structured film with plot holes and weak motivations ad forced action sequences galore

You forgot Alcatraz Connection, Bye Bye Liberty Crisis, and the others I mentioned. Those are IMPORTANT films in the Lupin canon.
>>
>>140595721
what?

part 2 is prime lupin. the absolute most elaborate and creative and entertaining plots in all of anime. If you want to know how to make comedy, STUDY lupin part 2.
>>
>>140596024
Dont you dare criticize Missed by a Dollar with your lies. Lucky I dont slap you with my dick

I didnt mention others because I was told top 10.
>>
>>140596358
explain why you like it so much then.

last I checked it was completely forgettable with horribly forced romance and anticlimactic ending.
>>
>>140596133
I meant downgrade in terms of the quality of the animation.
Part 2 is great, but it's mostly hit or miss. When it comes to which one had the better episodes, Part 1 prevails, But the tone of Part 2 gave it more of a fun and loving feel. Also the music in part 2 had the better music.
>>
Anyone know how neo's bdrips for part 2 and 3 are going? Haven't had an update since 1-96 of 2 quite a while ago.
>>
>>140596428
you should watch it again. I like it because it shows much more of Lupin's characteristics similar to P38 which is something you dont see in most Lupin films. The drama of everyone thinking Lupin was dead including Zenigata was actually pretty emotional even though we knew he wasnt dead. It was cute to see Zenigata mourn Lupin. Also the back and forth between Lupin and the villain was top notch.
>That seen where Lupin kidnaps her just to get on the helicopter to escape, and kisses her just before escaping
Fucking Lupin was legit in that film. It was a well told story. I dont want to get too deep into it because I think you should just re-watch it and see for yourself, but it definitely deserves to be in the top 10

i have a question about Jigen's Gravestone. I know it's a spinoff of the Fujiko series but is it a direct sequel? In the series, Lupin meets Jigen for the first time so is Gravestone like their 1st adventure together?
>>
>>140598699
Technically yes, it's how you're supposed to perceive it, or at least early in their long-term partnership, but then again, like all things Lupin, continuity is trivial and fleeting.
>>
>>140598853
I think the continuity is pretty simple to understand.

You have series 1, 2, and 3. They all take place a couple years apart from each other. Lupin is apparently in his late 20's in series 4 so series 1-4 is about 10 years or less of Lupin's life. The Fujiko series a prequel to series 1, and Jigen's Gravestone is a sequel to the Fujiko series, but it still takes place before series 1.

It's the movies that make the timeline complicated unless you consider them not to be canon. Castle of Cagliostro is one of the films later in the timeline. He has a flashback in the film of a young green cocky Lupin trying to break into the castle and failed. He was alone so I imagine this is before he meets the gang, therefore that flashback is one of the earliest moments in the timeline. You could also mention a bunch of other flashbacks throughout the Lupin series but I wont get into that right now. I am sure Castle of Cagliostro takes place a few years after Blue Jacket series. Tokyo Crisis is one of the films that is near the very end of the current timeline. Zenigata has apparently been chasing Lupin for 20 years at this point. The rest of the movies is just a guessing game.

I'm not that much a fan of Cagliostro. Too frilly and idealistic.

The story is undoubtedly well-told, but it's not Lupin to me. Part 2 and manga is more in line with my taste.
>>
>>140601867
Does anyone have a download for the Cagliostro Soundtrack?
>>
>>140603018
It's actually very Lupin. It's the Lupin you love but older, wiser, and cares more for others. It's the Highest form of character development. If you look at him from Part 1, to Part 2, and Cagliostro, It's a beautiful story.
>>
>>140603501
No, or at least I dont. You could just look up each individual song and download them.
