How can you guys watch so many female centric anime?
Women even in anime aren't relateable at all and it's really hard to be anything but annoyed by their presence. Isn't it more interesting to watch/read an anime/manga like JoJo or Kaiji or Berserk where you can sympathize with the characters?
I'm actually curious on what the appeal is.

Jojo is just lolsorandumb poorly written characters and stories.
Kaiji is good, but sometimes things get a little too convenient for him, hate that plot armor, not relatable at all.
Guts isn't relatable at all either, he's just tragic for the sake of being tragic and is superhuman. That's not relatable that's just edgy.

Female main cast anime isn't really female centric.

Gender is a large factor, it has a huge influence on the characters. The friendships shown in Jojo, the hardships in Kaiji and the thick skin Guts has to surround his real self in Berserk are all almost uniquely male and much more relateable to me as a man.

Exactly. Araki finally learnt to write women well. She was one of the most relatable characters in SBR since she was genuinely nice and just caught up in the bullshit. I like how Araki gave her the final win in the part by turning AU Diego's very existence against him. It's easy to relate to Johnny and Gyro, but Gyro's situation is pretty specific and Johnny is way too trigger happy and eager to kill that it sort of alienates him (although that was intended).

Oh yeah, I mean they weren't bad by any means just simplistic since he still wrote them when he was young. Part 7 and 8 are actually surprisingly well written and thought out both in a plotting and thematic sense given how the series started as a fairly standard battle shonen almost 30 years ago. Araki has stated that after getting married and having two daughters that he'd wanted to write a realistic female protagonist. There's nothing wrong with having characters be badass, he wanted a protagonist who was super relatable for his female readers as well. Ironically Jolyne is hated by both men and women in Japan for not being moe enough and for being 'improper' but not in a cool way like Jotaro. It's a shame because she is a good character with actual flaws.

You forget that women are specifically into the emotional aspect of shipping, they are very concerned with analyzing the characterization and relationship dynamics in any series. I've read some legitimately insightful fujo oriented meta essays about, for example, Dio and Jonathon. And plenty make it their job to understand characters well enough to write fanfiction about them.
