I like the monster's style. He gets its kills as clean as possible, using the environment and the victims themselves to do the dirty work for him so the town doesn't get visibly damaged.
Lovepon, Maimai, Nanko and Naana have been my favorites since day 1. I don't regret this.

I think it's just something that manifests as either someone's greatest desire or their greatest fear, and uses that to draw people to their deaths (or whatever it wants from them). It likely just lured Yottsun to some slippery rocks or something and then had him fall in on his own. It obviously wanted the Driver to go to the village, and later on apparently wanted to lure him away (probably to kill him like the others), and evidently didn't want the group to escape through the tunnel, so it scared them back. There's also a good chance that it wasn't actually Jack that they saw but just the monster trying to kill Judgeness, which looks like it might have succeeded.
