It's author's own fault for taking like 1-2 year breaks between volumes. In the first place, anime is meant to advertise LN so when they're not actuvely being published there is nothing to advertise. Imagine if he made like 12 volumes with various "box of week" type enemies and hijinks.

KyoAni is the only studio that can come close to pulling off something like this, because they actually have the capacity to convert character thought processes into body language and use stylistic flair and coloring to an appropriate degree (see: Hyouka).
