Script for episode 17, from Masaki Tsuji.
https://twitter.com/mtsujiji/status/722772830136377345

The title is "Devira and Deviro"

A reference to Devilman ?
Probably this going to be another GOAT episode. The man is so based. He's like, 84 year old right now, and his script is still good.
>>
I wonder if HS is going to rip this from Daisuki starting this week since they changed the schedule for this on their site from 06:00 to 07:00.
>>
Hey, /a/. There was a thread about this show on /m/ towards the start of the week that got my interest and I've been playing catch up since. Up to episode 10 so far and enjoying it.

There was an image posted which went over the timeline to make sense of it all. I didn't want to read it then to avoid spoilers but forgot to save it before the thread was bumped out of existence. Could someone post a copy of that here? I'd like to review it after I'm done playing catch-up if possible.

Funi in 1 hour, Daisuki in 2 hours.

Anyone willing to rip from FUNi ?
>>
>>140508550
After the amazing episode last week, I found today's episode rather weak.
>>
>>140509728
Is it as straightforward as the last two or are we returning to the mixed up time-line from last season?
>>
>>140509728
To a certain extent that's to be expected. Last episode was one of the better episodes of the entire show.
>>
>>140510338
It's very straightforward, but there's not much to the plot and a ton of QUALITY
>>
>>140510759
>It's very straightforward
I don't know how to feel about the direction this season is taking. The first two episode have been good but I liked how the first season was told out of order.
>>
>>140510851
Well, a handful of people predicted this would happen towards the end of the last season. The format of the first season was largely to establish characters and setting while still moving forward with the plot. I don't think its out of the question that we'll see more forays into the past within the "current" timeline but probably not nearly as many as the first season.

>getting my hopes up
This is a bully-free zone.
>>
This has to be one of the most straightforward episode ever. It's a decent stand-alone episode
>>
>>140510851
>>140511396
Honestly, I like the approach we've seen so far. What was the "future" last season is finally the main focus, and episodes seem to more directly focus on the duality between two points in time, instead of several.

I miss the occasional out of context jumps forward we would get at the start or end of episodes, though.
>>
>>140511457
>HS used FUNi rip because they want to be the first to upload it
>Vodka / Budlightsubs however use Daisuki, which is one hour later, for better quality
>HS don't give a fuck until FUNI fucked up last episode
>Then they switch to Daisuki because "we prefer muh superior quality!"
>Somehow still late, and beaten by Vodka / Budightsubs

kek, HS BTFO.
>>
>>140504124
If they had some Devilman kind of superhumans that would be fuckin' cool. Maybe it'll have something to do with Kikko's heritage, too?
>>
>>140512459
It looks to be the case.

Also, is it me or does Jiro not know the meaning of "You can not speak to Kikko EVER again"?

He seems to have purposefully taken a piss on that promise and is watching Emi lick it up like the whore she is.

>January 3rd in Shinka 47 (approximately 1972), Sapporo
Three sportsmen representing Japan voluntarily let themselves modified to become augmented superhuman athletes and to win medals. Two of the sportsmen are being very arrogant towards an unmodified ski jumper who refused the surgery, when suddenly, three black clouds appear and zapp them, making them cause flowers to sprout on their head.
The Sapporo Grand Prix Committee is asking the Bureau to help them resolve the problem, and they accept.
Ganba, one of the three modified athletes suspects that the unmodified athlete is the cause behind their ridiculous flower, and believes that he wants to participate as an unmodified human. When more lightning-shooting black clouds appear and zapp any being of human origin, Emi feels that it's the power of an ancient deity that is behind the shenanigans. She voluntarily becomes its vessel to hold up a sacred ritual, where all the flowerheads become mind-controlled and walk towards the hill to become a forest of living humans. Only the unmodified athlete, born in Sapporo and wise in the land's lore knows what to do. He performs a test jump, and the goddess is pleased with the result. She turns all the trees back into humans, and the superhuman athletes and the unmodified guy reconcile. The birdmen win all three medals. Emi is however wondering what will happen to the olympic games if they ever were held in Tokyo again, since the gods of Tokyo are a little bit more incomprehensible than the deity of Sapporo.

I guess this is a reference to the upcoming summer Olympic games of 2020.
>>
It's a rather weak episode, but at least there's some interesting tidbits.
It looks like superhumans are allowed to compete as long as they're natural-born with their powers, or only have muscles and nerves modified.
Transhumans with robotic parts are forbidden. So, no robots or cyborgs allowed. Genetically modified supers are okay, and natural-born supers with modified supermuscles would alright too.
Might kinda make sense in a superhero world, when technically everyone could become a superbeing by simply going in a lab and get some retrovirus injected in you that turns you into a 20 foot tall freak.
Doping is most likely not an issue in the ConRevo-world.

>I guess this is a reference to the upcoming summer Olympic games of 2020.

Na
It's the old 1972 winter Olympic at Sapporo where JP team won the only gold medal (along with Sliver and Bronze) at Ski jump
>>
>>140513545
I meant Emi's statement at the end of the episode. I know that this episode was about the real-world winter Olympics in Sapporo of 1972.
>>
After last weeks disaster Horriblesubs switched to Daisuki source so no more sign translations.
>>
>>140513807
That's a pity. I prefer the Funimation subtitles to that of Daisuki, as they're normally better at English.
Although to be honest, this week's episode ain't some high-class gem that you'd need to rewatch again to understand important things.

Will HorribleSubs from now on only use Daisuki, or might they still provide Funimation-rips in the future?
>>
kikko a cute
>>
>>140513956
well, they had the batch version using soft subs from Daisuki. I had thought HorribleSubs would of kept releasing the version form Funimation while having the batch version is soft sub since there was another group that was using the soft sub version from other languages.
>>
It seems that at least supers are at least allowed to be mentioned in the media now, which might be a slight improvement. And Ganba even had enough influence to tell the committee to harass their fellow normal-athlete, which they willingly did.
A few years ago, the media were forced to pretend like superbeings didn't exist for the sake of the old functional secrecy law.
Unless it's one of those registered government superhuman thingy.
>>

Nice, Ski Jumping reference episode. In fact obtaining all 3 medals in SJ in Winter Games is pretty badass of Japan jumpers. No wonder author indicates those sportsmen as superhuman (and Takashi Fujisawa was 23-th).

Well, when it comes to typical topic of justice, I think this episode was about doping. How you need to be modified to be almost superhuman, to win anything in today sport.
>>
>God sees your penis
>>
So what was the point of this episode?
>>
Who's the VA for the green haired jumper? Cant quite place my finger on it but its really familiar.
>>
>>140515297
Something about true Olympic spirit being greater than the question about superhuman rights or not, I guess.
And perhaps that you should keep trying shit even if you're not some super athlete.

>>140503912

No idea, but for whatever reason, people were booing during the games. Perhaps some sports history-fag can shed some more light into those events.
>Prior to these games, Japan had never won a gold medal in the Winter Olympics. The host country's fans in Sapporo were booed when three Japanese athletes, led by Yukio Kasaya, swept the ski jumping 70 m (current K-90 normal hill) event for gold (Kasaya), silver (Akitsugu Konno), and bronze (Seiji Aochi).

>>
>>140517676
It's her demon queen form. The contrast is sexy.
>>
>>140518268
The helmets with holes were mentioned, but the athletes rejected them because the flowers looked ridiculous and they didn't want to embarass himself
So they could still jump. It's just that the selfish pricks didn't want to do it with the flower
>>
>>140518268
Jumping for your nation while the entire world sees while having a flower on your head is shamefully silly.
These guys already threw away their pride when they had to to agree to bio-modify themselves into superhuman athletes. And then they had to accept a silly theme name like the birdmen.
Jumping with flowers on your head is just too much.
The two guys on the team did after all demand utter respect and were very arrogant about it.
>dude, I'm now a superhuman strong freak with the fucking dumb codename Gamba

This episode was one of the weaker ones, although I don't think it was quite as weak as 6. Still it was a somewhat enjoyable contained story, but even more so than some of the S1 ones, I fail to see how this really had any relevance to the main plot. Maybe because it wasn't written by Sho Aikawa.
>>
>>140525848
I do think episode 6 was better thematically than episode 16. Episode 6 just had a rather dissatisfying reaction of the Mountain Horses to their friend's death, but aside from that, I think it handled the idea that not everyone is really cut out to be an action superhero but doesn't need to be one to make people happy anyway quite well.
Perhaps after a good night's sleep, I might find the thematic message in this episode more apparent, but for now, it seems like the episode is just about mistrust and jealousy at most.
>>
>>140526074
I don't, I guess I kinda liked the resolution to this episode. I also think there was at least somewhat of a theme to not forget our heritage, like the Sapporo people had done. Since the God wasn't even actually mad that they had destroyed her forest and shrine, just that they weren't doing the ritual for her anymore.

That said, 6 definitely had a more apparent theme, and also seems to be overall more relevant to the show as a whole.

While this episode certainly was a bit ham-fisted and overall weak compared to what we're used to, I actually enjoyed the implications about Amato. He, like, to a lesser extent, Rainbow Knight, was just an average person that managed to surpass any and all expectations of what a human should be capable of. The episode also served to highlight the fact that artificial superhumans are still "human" which may be a plot point in a future episode. It was a very heartwarming episode that, in all honest, could have been delivered a lot better.

I actually wouldn't mind having a healthier stronger body capable of easily leaping up buildings like Birdman Gamba. In fact, I do wonder why not the entire world isn't doing bio-augmentation.
It's kinda cool that science in the Concrete Revolutio-world is advanced enough that they can easily give anyone any power imaginable.

At most, I could see money being an issue and bio-augmentation being limited for the rich people.

It's probably considered dangerous, unethical, and has a high chance of you winding up as a submarine or helmet.
>>
>>140528277
Another potential downside is that the surgery may also require donors, so you'd need superhumans with the requisite powers to either be willing to donate (and thus lose their own powers) or be dead.
>>
>>140528277
It probably costs a lot of money.
>>
OP when?
>>
>>140520818
I dont remember there being any in the last episode of season 1 unless you count the flashback to baby jiro in the last 10 seconds
>>

In five days, at the same time as the second volume of the ConRevo-radio compilation.
>>
>>140528519
That was secret military appliance of superhumans, though.

Now that we've seen that the world accepts superhuman athletes, and in fact even expects only them to be capable of doing impressive enough feats that can wow people watching TV, perhaps the struggle between superhumans and normal people in the Concrete Revolutio-world is coming slowly at an end simply because superhumans aren't treated as potential nukes anymore that everyone ought to fear and shun, but as praiseworthy idols and champions.

I hope that's the direction the ending is going in. Since it seems like the Superhumans will disappear in some way according to the prequel novel, but I could see it meaning blending into society by that.
>>
>>140525848
>I fail to see how this really had any relevance to the main plot.
Humans are not lesser beings just because they don't have a superpower. They are still strong if they work hard, or at least that's the message I'm getting after watching this episode.
>forget about superhumans or humans, you're athletes
>>
>>140503912
Well this episode was pretty boring. When are we suppose to get to the part season 1 showed? With Jiro meeting with the robot girl adnt he androids? Next episode looks boring as well so i think i,ll just drop this for a bit and wait until its all over
>>
>>140530180
Yeah, it's probably that, and as >>140528208 wrote, the distinction between humans and superhumans is slowly starting to get broken up.
If even normal humans like Amato or the Rainbow Knight could achieve superhuman feats through sheer willpower and training alone, then discriminating those born with special powers or who got their special powers through artificial means later on and fearing them as potential terrorists in the making starts looking silly.
>>
>>140530652
Never underestimate the irrational nature of humans. We always find a way.
>>
They Are Always Laughing from first season was the best episode ever of this show
>>
>>140531466
I liked episode 7 about Earth-chan and the morale of the story about how sometimes a thing that everyone knows is a lie must be perpetuated for everyone to keep the dreaming about the better future everyone is striving for a little bit more.
>>
>>140531466
Do you genuinely think so or are you trying to bait people because it's probably the most widely disliked episode?

I'm actually curious, please respond honestly.
>>
>>140531808
I unironically liked that episode. Something about that second rate comedy band was appealing to my heart.
>>
>>140531659
Same here, her episode is my favorite one.
>>
>>140531808
Not him, but I did actually really like it, but nowhere near my favorite episode of the season. It also didn't help that the episode before and after it were probably some of the best of whole series.

That said, I thought it had a decent theme, and I never thought the band's reaction was nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. I felt like Don was putting up a strong front in the moment, and didn't genuinely mean to be so cold about his friend's death.
>>
>>140532024
>I felt like Don was putting up a strong front in the moment, and didn't genuinely mean to be so cold about his friend's death.
I thought he was too traumatized by the War to cry, which makes the situation sadder.
>>
>>140532305
Was he himself in the war? All I remember was him talking about how before the war Superhumans were more accepted and still in the news. I could just be forgetting though since it's been some months.
>>
>>140532391
Maybe he wasn't, but at that time I doubt a ton of people wouldn't have been forced to go there, maybe a few of his friends or family went there.
>>
>>140532636
I assumed he was probably too young to have actually been a soldier himself, but you're right, it would have been impossible for him to have been completely unaffected by the war if he was alive at the time.
>>
>>140532391
He most likely lived through it, since he seems to have experienced it himself. He might have been only a young lad though during world war 2.
During the war, Japan probably did all those things like kamikaze and drafting the young in a futile effort to stop the American advance and working to their bones to repair whatever damages caused by firebombs and stuff once they started losing against the Americans.
>>
>>140532845
He was the one who mentioned that the news still talked about Superhumans prior to the war, wasn't he? That would mean he had to have been alive prior to the war in order to remember that. Him having some kind of trauma from the war would make sense, and make for a good explanation of his reaction to his friend's death.
>>
>>140533055
Yes, Don's the guy who can phase through things. I don't think he was really traumatized, however. On the other hand, it was a terrible war, and Japan was most likely the loser too just like in real life, so it's not really impossible for him to be affected mentally by the effects of the war.
He was more concerned for example that the band would be forbidden from ever performing because of the old functional secrecy law that treats all superhumans as military secrets that must never be shown in official media or be acknowledged in the public.
He still had a sense of justice and a willingness to do the right thing when he overheard the redhaired girl from the Imperial Advertising Company planning to use drugged chocolate to suppress the power of all the youths, awakened or not.
It is most likely that he did not like seeing people toy and manipulate with the health of young people and deny them their basic rights to do whatever they want with their abilities, free from control by others. One should be free to choose if to use his gifts for the betterment of humanity, or to use them for more mundane and minor purpose.
A freedom of expression is what episode 6 is all about, after all.

I don't get it. I watched the first season 13 episodes.

Now season 2 has 2 episodes and then another 3 that seem not to follow the first two plot.

What are you watching Concrete Revolutio for?
I've realized I'm here for Jiro and Jiro-Justice.
>>
>>140536682
I'm still confused after watching the first season and first 2 episode of season 2. Do they every explain anything?

What exactly is jiro and why did he believe he didn't have super powers all that time and what was rainbow knight.

What exactly is emi doing with all those magazines
>>
>>140536937

>>
>>140536896
Everything it references is the kind of stuff I love, the historical parallels are really interesting, and then on top of that it has a very intriguing story with lovable characters all of which are presented in a unique style.

But mainly JUSTICE.
>>
>>140536937
>What exactly is emi doing with all those magazines
Its been a while but she was impersonating the people in it.
>>
>>140536937
I believe Jirou didn't want to see himself as a Superhuman, because his powers very clearly come from a kaiju or some sort of monster that would have been exactly what the heroes he looked up to, specifically Rainbow Knight, fought against. However presumably after the Claude incident he had to accept himself and wanted to help all the other Superhumans troubled by their powers and the society's treatment of them.

Rainbow Knight is a cool dude with some fancy guns and a rad motorcycle.

>What exactly is jiro and why did he believe he didn't have super powers all that time and what was rainbow knight.

We don't have teh answer to that yet fully.

Currently Jiro:
>Has some sort of atomic fire Kaiju inside of him that he can't control on his own.
>Is possibly the literal "Little Boy" atomic bomb.
>He most likely said he wasn't a super human because he was trying to distinguish between himself and the kaiju inside of him as some sort of coping mechanism.
>His blood potentially grants or enhances superhuman abilities and replicating its effect was the true goal of the secret research being done.

Also, Rainbow knight turned out to not be using any sort of super suit or super powers. He was literally just a normal guy with a motorcycle and gun trying to be a hero. The government is covering it up because they are trying to market the idea of superhumans and that he was just a regular guy goes against that.
