>He wanted to make a fighting manga at first because he was a big fan of fighting games at the time, but thought that such a manga couldn’t win against the games that people can play themselves. So he made a manga about a boy who gets bullied and uses his brain to win against his enemies in various games. He choose board/card games because he thought those would be more interesting.
>As time went by he realized that he needed a regular game and choose the card game as it had a good reception. At first it was fun to draw monsters, but as their numbers continued to grow he found it more and more difficult to draw them. Now he realizes that his card rules were a mess at first. When the OCG was released it became more difficult to draw the manga because it was harder make dramatic scenes.
>He didn’t pay too much attention to the OCG when he was drawing the original manga because cards were simply tools for him and thought that it was more important to flesh out the characters and to make an interesting story.
>Out of all the characters he has the strongest feelings for Kaiba Seto. Exodia is the card that moves his imagination the most as it’s the same thing as royal straight flush in poker (this is why he likes Yugi’s duel against Kaiba during Death-T very much).
>He wasn’t sure what to think about making a movie at first because he forgot about the story and didn’t think many people would remember the original series, but he realized that there could be some things about Kaiba he couldn’t draw in the manga. Then, he thought he could show the characters’ lives after the end of the manga with Kaiba being the central figure.

>He thought that it was important to show that Yugi and his friends are still getting along very well and live happily in Domino City. He’s glad the director paid attention to this. He’s content with the manga’s ending/conclusion, however he tried to show another ending in the movie.
>The theme of the movie is the light and dark side of the bonds between people, collectivity and evolution. He wanted to show the past, present and future from Yugi’s, Kaiba’s and Aigami’s perspectives.
>Since he couldn’t put spoilers in Transcend Game he focused on the development of KC’s new duel disk. He thought that showing Kaiba’s feelings towards Atem and the insanity inside him are necessary.
