Essentially Joa used the image fakeout to make a small enough opening to start an attack combo and then relied purely on Gourmet Luck to evade and constantly zone Midora out of countering until Joa was close enough to seal him. Even then it was a fucking split second finish, if GOD hadn't distracted Midora once more then he would have atomized Joa.
Really, Midora was just too inexperienced, his focus got shaken twice in an extremely high level battle.

I can already see this predictable ending to this manga, Toriko claims God putting it in his main course, or everyone decides to share it and then it's a happy ending with a timeskip. Komatsu is probably the top chef in the world or some shit and Toriko has kids, probably becomes President of IGO. Peace, love and harmony rule the planet and everyone gets laid.
