Yet the mech supporters all scream of the TSF being a superior NOE flight vehicle and how it is super important for hive infiltrations and laserjagd. And how the attack helicopters cant do the last two things.
So obviously we have to use the TSF. But the current weapons it use are insufficent in my opinion and im gona explain why.
We be going by the year 1983. Current main weapon for the NVA TSF is the standard 36mm autocanon and 120mm underbarrel tank canon. Up to 4 of these can be mounted on 1 TSF. And that is pretty much it unless you count knifes and swords which frankly is hard to use weapon and demands long term extensive training and experience to use effectively.
Now if we mount a YAKB-12.7mm gatling gun on the head then now we have a new tactical advantage. You got a weapons which is effective against Tank-class and laser-class.
But it is not the main weapon but a

I agree. Pretty much everything that happened before 1990 or so was basically a forgone conclusion, irrespective of the narrative necessity for things to go a certain direction.
Basically, once the baters decided to push exclusively west from Kashagar, Europe was pretty much screwed. I'm not exactly sure why it took the BETA more than a decade to advance more than a few hundred miles east.
That said, I'm not sure how effectively you could set a story after Operation Thousand-Folded Falling Cherry Blossom. You'd have to explain in detail the consequences and effects of the events of the original trilogy; they'd have to actually explain how it wasn't just a return to the status quo -2 Hives. I'm not sure how you would do that without it being clear that any victory was attained by Gary Stu Super Technology.

Europe would've fallen anyways. Really, the blame lies with Beatrix for fomenting the necessary conditions for a coup d'etat while in the middle of a war. All the 666th did was respond to the internal threat of her takeover of the government, not to mention their immediate survival as their necks were definitely next to rest on the chopping block.
As for why they ended the show on a happy note, ask yourself this: did the characters know they were going to die soon? Absolutely not. They did what they thought was the best possible way to survive for the long-term. Whether or not that would be successful is immaterial in the short-term. The characters just achieved a victory against the Stasi, beat back the massive wave of BETA, and actually survived to tell the tale. It's a natural reaction to celebrate a victory, even if it is only temporary, and has a long tradition that goes back to Xerxes after Thermopylae and beyond into antiquity. If the characters were to do otherwise, it would have lost absolutely all credibility.
And as a side note, tell me this... Do you think the Werewolf battalion alone would have stood a chance against the BETA? Hm? Because that's what Beatrix was aiming at with her takeover of the system. The only people she trusted were other Stasi, and even that was only if she had each them disarmed and in plain sight.

According to Integral Works, Western Europe began making plans for a full-scale withdrawal from the continent in 1981 under the Operation Dunkirk. The idea was not just to get people out, but also to have somewhere to send them other than rapefugee camps. Presumably, this involved calling a takeback on the whole decolonization thing.
The biggest contribution Katia may have made was creating a situation where East Germany the survivors of the Warsaw Pact could get onboard with that.
Also, three years of prep time makes a successful evacuation much more plausible.
