I've met up with some girl I knew for a good 4 years online, really awkward at first.
You could really see the difference between text style conversations and conversations in real life.
Eventually we found something to do and then it kicked off and had a good time in the end.
If you guys do meet up with someone from an MMO, ask yourself how often you are on voice communication and how much do actually talk to each other and have things in common with.

I went to an offline event with my virtual friends once. One of them was even my wife/girlfriend in RO. I was always joking around how my (shemale) character was lesbo for her knight and such.
Prior to the meeting I asked her age, she was like 10~11 and I was 17~18. At the actual meeting I noticed she was took the virtual relationship seriously so I, as aspineless coward and fearing the copssimply greeted her andran for it, literally.
