I don't look back at Haruhi too fondly, but there were some episodes in the first season that I remember well and enjoyed. One of those was the episode where Kyon was sent out to buy a new space heater on a rainy day. Might be the usual rainy day gloom at work, but I actually quite liked the atmosphere of that episode. It made the after school environment look mundane and, well, ordinary.
