I don't have money and they're all overpriced.
>>
>>140274759
I have.
>>
Buying non Japanese manga makes no sense
>>
No, because I don't want to read anything that is saturated with cum.
>>
>>140276021

This.

But that's the best thing about used manga. You can share your unity with others.
>>
Why the glad wrap?
>>
>>140275758
>>
No, but they're in used condition by the time they're at my doorstep.
Fuck Amazon.
>>
only time i did that was when I bought the collectors edition of oldboy off of ebay, and the manga was practically untouched when I got it.
>>
>>140274759
Fuck no. I don´t want some fat lard´s cum-stained used goods. What the fuck is wrong with you. Pay for it new so that you actually support the mangaka or just read it online if you decide to be a retarded faggot.
>>
>>140277099
>Pay for it new so that you actually support the mangaka
Second-hand purchases also help the economy. So this reasoning is wrong.
>>
>>140277142
Not always.
>>
>>140277175
>not always
How does moving money from one place to another not help the economy at all times?
>>
>>140277406
>person buys manga
>hand to someone and say "gimme 5 bucks for it"
where does the $5 go? not the mangaka
>>
>>140277659
Economics 101 wants you to stop skipping its classes
>>
>>140275758
>>140277030
Why?
>>
>>140277703
You're retarded.
>>
>>140277739
You don't know how economics work. That's not my fault. If you ask a question that could easily be googled. I can only assume you've skipped classes.
>>
>>140277797
Tell me where $5 go already please? It buys some maccas!
>>
>>140277829
read >>>140277797

I'm not an economics teacher. Google is.
>>
>>140277829
Not him, but the seller will probably use that money to buy more manga and support the manga industry. It's not hard to understand.
>>
>>140277659
Here's what he's getting at.

If someone knows that they can resell something for $5, they'll be willing to pay $5 more for it. A known resale market adds value to a product that a smart retailer can take advantage of.
It's the reverse of overpaying for a limited edition item because you know you can resell it for more.
>>
>>140277707
Expensive, large, no resale value and doesnt resell cheap plus it barely supports the artists. Buy japanese or read online honestly
>>
>>140277868
$5 cash? ganna go buy some manga are we?
>>
>>140277915
What if I just want the physical copies of a manga? Also:
>expensive
Importing from Japan would probably cost me twice as much
>>
>>140277914
Or some greedy kid just wants to buy lunch? No ones ganna know he sold it to his mate for $5
>>
>>140277975
>he just wants to buy lunch
So what? Where he invests his money in isn't that black and white. Whatever he used YOUR 5dollar bill for isn't relevant
>>
>>140277975
I don't think you understand the concept of a market. There are thousands of used tankoban for sale on the Internet.
>>
>>140277970
Amazon offers a flat rate plus 300 yen per volume. If you just want physical batch buying would be cheaper.
>>
>>140278030
I just want to know how it supports mangaka.. If i went to my brother and asked for $5 to give him this shitty manga I had, how dies that support anyone in any way besides myself coz +$5?
>>
>>140278227
Not him but resale indirectly supports the mangaka. Buying English manga doesnt at all
>>
>>140277085
>Buy manga from Yesasia
>Cheaped out on delivery
>Hoping to god it doesnt fuck things up.
>>
>>140278227
It's already explained, I really don't understand why you can't just google your issues
>>
>>140278121
Looking at the prices on Amazon I don't think it would be cheaper with that 300 yen surplus, except for some ridiculously overpriced adaptations, and that's not counting the expedition costs.
>>
>>140278611
Not even just amazon, any other second hand wrbsite wouls be.

Its especially cheaper for a non American but is still the same price and cheaper for Americans (plus earlier release, source and objectively better covers)
>>
I buy used manga on eBay and abebooks. Most of the books on Abe are library books, and they're almost always in great condition because nobody read them. My last order had a book in "very good" condition and it was still in its wrapping.

I've had a couple bad ones though, the worst being some used narutaru volumes that smelled like shit.

>>140277085
I stopped buying hardcovers from them because they'd always arrive dented.
>>
>>140278611
It was more worth it when the yen was lower, but when buying large books Amazon is the best choice because they don't charge by weight.

When the second JJBA art book came out I used Amazon JP and got it with $12 EMS shipping while other people were paying $50+ on the other sites they ordered it on.
>>
>Lived in germany for long time, buying manga is pain in the ass when 90% of what you want you have to import. And surprise sometimes they sell manga series which they dont have complete on warehouse or order.

Basically if you want to have good and complete manga.Yes you have to buy used ones.
>>
Just because you wouldn't cum in something doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.

If I buy anything localized I always buy new
>>
The dumb pseudoeconomic theorycrafting going on in this thread is staggering.
>>
>>140279099
Literally all economic stuff is theory
>>
>>140278899
>Basically if you want to have good and complete manga.Yes you have to buy used ones.
Why?
>>
>>140279099
Why is it dumb?
>>
>>140279937
sounds like a lot of German manga is out of print?
>>
>>140274759
only for rare and old manga
>>
>>140280206
I don't know how it works in germany. But wouldn't you be able to order out of print issues if you pay more? That's how it generally works.
>>
>>140275758
Yes it does, if you actually want to read it.
>>
>>140274759
yes, but generally only japanese one. Being one of the few country that has a good manga market, and having one of the major editor right in my town, I buy everything else in my language
>>
>>140279937
>>140280206

For my time in germany the manga i looked for were originally released 3+ years on our marked. Maybe i had bad luck, but my wanted manga were always sold out. Btw, the used ones i bought were cheap as dirt but looked really good.
>>
Bought three volumes off ebay only because they are the source from whence my waifu was born.

Can't even read moon that well. No one else has translated them so I figured I could try. It'd take weeks, looking up every other kanji and shit but I could do it eventually.
>>
>>140280621
What mango?
>>
>>140274759
>used
baka
>>
>>140280621
>>140280740
Not to rain on your parade, but that time spent on that could be spend on a job /w minimum wage then paying some scanlators do to their job

It's crazy I know
>>
>>140281017
What? Also why reply to me when im jist asking what manga
>>
The only place I've been able to reliably find it is the state police auction and flood damaged goods sales.
>>
>>140281074
Whats a state police auction? Just stuff they seized?
>>
>>140281121
Pretty much. Sometimes they also have stuff left by someone who died with no relatives or friends able to inherit it.
>>
Yes. While I was in Japan I was able to find a lot of my favorite manga in used bookstores for less than 100yen usually like 50yen or so. Definitely worth it, I think. Some other stores will package up full sets of used manga for more, but still pretty damn cheap.
>>
>>140281387
Where did you go to get it that cheap? Book off amd mandarake cost minimum 250

>>140281186
Cool, ill have to see if i have something similar
>>
>>140281186
I work at an auction where cleaners sell all the items they remove from people's houses but there's never been a lot of manga. I've only seen stuff from kid's collections like old shounen jump magazines and a few random volumes of series like Gashbell and Hikaru no Go.
>>
I thought of buying some manga, but I can't read moon and most stuff I like is untranslated.
>>
>>140281573
You meam steal?
>>
I buy used doujins
>>
>>140277915
But you can't read it. What's the point?

> plus it barely supports the artists
That gets covered with the license.
>>
>>140281511
Literally hole-in-the-wall used bookstores, ones where things are just in piles and disorganized shelves. Don't remember the name of the shops, I just walked in.
>>
>>140280740

Zvezda. At least I don't think it's translated.

>>140281017

Society don't want me or my work. Fuck them.
>>
>>140282337
>But you can't read it.
>he doesn't know moon
>>
>>140282337
It doesnt get covered theough the license. Also if you cany read just read online. You generally only get manga for collection purposes

>>140278377
in what fucking world

are you living in berenstein universe where communism works?
>>
>>140282150
It's not stealing.
These cleaners are people you call when you need to empty out a house or a room that's in your possession, but full of stuff you don't need or don't want to mess with. Depending on the contents, you might pay for it a little, or they'd even pay you for the stuff.
Possible uses:
>grandma dies and her heirs want to move in or renovate the house
>family moves abroad and wants to get rid of all the old things
>a bank or a government comes into possession of a house and wants to liquidate it
>>
>>140282150
No, it's real business. Some of the house cleaners also own antique stores or sell/donate items to schools.
>>
>>140282672
Ah so removalists. Seems cool, would be a great way to get antique furniture
>>
>>140282412
>Society don't want me or my work
You sure you just don´t want to clean poo?
>>
>>140282432
The Japanese publisher signed away the translation rights, and got consideration. So did the mangaka with his copyright.
If the Western market proves to be big, then the publishers would learn and charge higher fees and demand royalties.
This would reach the mangaka indirectly through more lucrative contracts with the publishers. And if it doesn't, they are in a better position than ever to cut out the middle man and sell merchandise or ask for donations.
>>
>>140278377
>Buying English manga doesnt at all
I'm pretty sure it does, though most money probably goes to the local publisher and the one in Japan.
>>
>>140282432
But why does a translated manga have a lesser value than the original one? I can understand if the translation is half-assed, the paper quality is shit or the covers are different from the original, but if the only difference is the language I can't see how it matters, unless you are a purist or something.
>>
>>140283048

Don't have a PoohD or 10+ years experience in the poo removal industry.
>>
>>140283879
Admit that you can find a job, but it would be one that isn't your thing. Either you feel insulted that you'd have such a braindead job with your level of education, or you simply don't have the condition to work an actual tough job.
