Is this show worth my time if I enjoyed Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Death Note? I particularly like the music, specifically Kom Susser Tod which is all I know of it.

I haven't watched the show in, like, forever but from what I remember the show likes to push the envelope of symbolism (often religious) a lot and the show is centered around the insecurities of Shinji. In other words, imagine what a real person would go through if tasked with a life or death situation where they have to save the world. That's basically what it's about.

It's honestly my favourite anime.
It is its own show with a wide array of facets to it. I'd not compare it directly with that many shows from before it, though it has been influenced by prior material.
