There's a difference between hating shit series because they've received overwhelming praise to the point where is infuriatingly annoying and cross borders will actually come here to defend SAO when its airing, and another to just be contrarian about absolutely everything. Some people here like Touka but then Eto appeared and most jumped on the bandwagon, making Rio meme.
I think people are getting more and more immature as hate toward characters, including Eto and everyone else, is getting lame. When Tokyo Ghoul was still going, people were more nice and we made jokes on translation drama. Now I guess they are bored so they just shits on characters. Some of edited pics were fun but now, they are just repetitive, same insults, same hatred, same people.
Then I went to reddit as people were complaining about how bad it was, compared to /a/. The community there was actually better. Maybe because there is a rule while mods on /a/ stop doing clean up.

Some have being admitting this lately, how they don't read the manga and are only here to shit on it using what they read in the threads. I think most of them are actually from reddit and then some from tumblr going by what they post.
