Anime doesn't really give characters parents anymore. They're all but nonexistent in LN works and adaptations, and most of the other time, even in it's an anime original or manga adaptation, parents only ever show up if they're the MC's or if they have high relevance to the plot, even if it takes place in a high school and you would expect to see someone's parents sometime.

It's widely accepted that she got parents and so is not an orphan in japanese fandon. But somehow the parents couldn't be helped but leaving their daughter alone in Mitakihara.

That's not really what I meant though.
In those cases parents aren't around because of the plot, it's not like they just don't ever appear. Unlike in anime where an MC could live in his home with his parents and we almost never hear mention of them let alone see them, think someone like Kyon.
Peanuts has parents and they appear somewhat but it's basically a joke that adults never appear on screen so I don't think it counts.
I thought about it a bit, and I suppose it's just the demographic difference, since parents appear way often in kids shows both eastern and western. Still doubt most teenagers are THAT disjointed from their parents, I mean, they still live in the same house and all, it really does come off as strange to never have them appear even once. I was really surprised when they showed Yui's parents in the K-On movie by the way.

Half my family is Roman Catholic and a few of the older ones have worked internally for the Church. You'd be naive to believe that the Church isn't a pragmatic entity when it comes to deploying finances.
The short of it is that the level of services across the board that they provide really depends on how strong their base and patrons are in the region. Catholicism's Japanese believer base is absolutely tiny and they don't exactly have scores of prominent supporters/donors either. Insignificant - not worth any extraordinary effort fund deployments. In practice they'd probably just try to guilt trip the Jap bureaucracy or leave her fate entirely to donors.
