problem with HxH is that there are a lots of chapters that has little to none dialogues in them (Chimera arc),while Medaka is consistent.
medaka talks to talk because that is his writing style, and he pokes fun at himself by doing ridiculous shit like that. hunter talks when it needs to explain stuff and has purpose, but not every chapter is WORDS WORDS WORDS because its all togashi can do
