So I am reading the manga for Kinnikuman.
Is everybodys role in that manga to get jobbed super hard then Kinnikuman just saves the tournament from the big baddy?
hello?
>>140090648
Sort of, but it becomes abundantly clear that Kinnikuman would probably still be dead if not for the support given to him by the other Idol Choujin. The series is pretty big on sacrifice for the sake of friendship.
>>140091055
I don't think that many people on /a/ have read it.
>>140090648
Pretty realistic comparing to "real" wrestling
>>140091549
ah I see.
>>140090648
Sometimes there's a tag team.
>>140090648
to be fair, the manga does put an emphasis on friendship and teamwork. Without the rest of his friends, he'd be fucked.
Like, he really couldn't beat Akuma Shogun without Buffalo man jumping in like he did, and that's why him coming back in any form is always a large deal in the original and Nisei.
As for the jobbing part, only a few characters job all the way through. Everyone else seems to vary. Like if they do alright in one arc then they get taken down early in the next.
>>140092032
>only a few characters job all the way through
Especially if their names are Wolfman, Geronimo, or Brocken Jr.
>>140092226
Also Canadianman and Special man
Kinnikuman is one of the best fighting manga, shame most of /a/ hasn't read it.
Hopefully we get an anime for the manga continuation soon since the anniversary is coming up and they are making alot of figures lately.
>>140092253
They barely even count as jobbers.
>>140092318
I feel ambivalent about the possibilities of a new anime. I really don't want Toei to get a hold of it and try to target it towards young kids, even though they're not the main readership of the currently running series.
>>140092226
Brocken Jr. did win a fight in the recent arc, so there's that. Meanwhile Geronimo got injured without even getting into a match and IIRC there was a special on how Wolfman has an injury that keeps him from fighting again.
>>140092253
Even the Jobbers do better than they do.
>>140093158
It would be better if someone else got it. A new anime based on the revival would be much better received than a Nisei anime though.
After hearing about Nisei's tag arc, I really don't want to see it animated unless changes are made.
>>140093158
Are there any kinnikuman nisei subs online that aren't ultimate muscle?
>>140090648
Some have ascended from the jobber class. T Ninja, Sunshine and even Warsman got their deserved win in the recent series.
>tfw there's a new series and I am too busy (read: lazy) to give even a summary for those forum readers
>HnG hasn't translated the newest arcs
>>140093597
>Arrogant Spark
>Silverman actually aimed to make a technique that is less murderous
>Kinnikuman actually succeeded with Muscle Spark
Nemesis is all jelly, I'm sure.
>>140092318
It's in my backlog, I swear! Have to stop being a phone friend and get back on tje grind.
>>140093390
At the risk of sounding like an edgelord, the brutality of the Kinnikuman manga is part of the appeal for me. While I don't think the anime adaptation are entirely bad, the censorship got pretty ridiculous.
As for the Ultimate Choujin Tag arc, I agree. Although, I don't think the final arcs of the first Nisei manga were ever animated.
>>140093472
A couple of years back there were crabstick quality subs of the first twenty-six episodes of Nisei. They are probably still up on Nyaa but I dunno if they're seeded.
>>140094085
Maybe it's just me, but I hate Nisei. Mantaro is an ass that is even worse than his father, if that's even possible.
>>140093774
>Have to stop being a phone
>>140092318
eh, I don't know about it being one of the "best". It set the blueprints for shonen (fuck DBZ) but it's corny as hell and a lot of it is just straight bullshit.
I still have a fondness for it, though.
>>140094346
>corny as hell
Not all. Some like pic-related are one of the best bouts.Pretty sad he lost in the recent arc and literally buried
>>140094505
sure, not all of it is dumb. There's heart underneath everything, and that really carries it through.
But in that very arc, you have a finishing move that consists of bouncing upside-down on someone's head with YOUR head to drive them into the mat, which was revealed to be the inferior version of a technique where you juggle someone in the air with your head like a soccer ball. And then another super move involved just surfing on someone in mid-air and running them into a wall - but it was revealed that it only works if the victim fucking LETS YOU DO IT, as any movement on their part breaks the "hold", if you can even call it that.
>>140094770
Eh, the problem with fake Muscle Inferno is that it's only good for the first time. Vertical is the way to go if you want to stop people from breaking free.
It's still a cool technique
>>140094288
Mantaro is one of those characters that I like but I can't really defend him because he really is kind of a cunt.
>>140095050
Woops, that's a wrong image.
>>140093674
Wait a minute though, didn't the Complete Muscle Spark actually kill Omegaman and Super Phoenix?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRwJvOm395E
Still love the 4kids opening
Of course, you cannot have Kinnikuman without those catchy character theme songs. They should have composed more.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTxsh-NSAtQ
>>140095291
Omegaman was rendered to a state he couldn't even fight. It's Phoenix burning his page that actually killed him.
Phoenix's heart failed him at the last minute.
>>140094346
I loved that the fight with Satan Cross was literally video games.
Shame about the translations for the entire Throne arc though.
>>140095369
Oh, you're absolutely right. My memory of it is pretty shitty despite having reread it recently.
Anyway, better post the most AMERICAN character theme.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzwFJTjKTEo
>>140095327
I prefer Hustle Muscle, but this is also fun.
Normally I wouldn't even think about buying anime and manga related clothing, but I'm honestly considering buying a few Kinnikuman t-shirts because I like the designs.
I read the original saga, and I loved.
Where i can read Nisei and the other ones?
>>140098233
Nisei was released by Viz in conjunction with 4kids' Ultimate Muscle way back when, but it's out of print these days with a couple of the volumes being priced at nearly ten times their cover price. There are scans of the first five volumes on Madokami and I think somebody else is scanning some from their own collection.
For the revival and other stuff, go here: http://herculesfactory.tumblr.com/main_catalog
>>140098954
thanks, lad
>>140099342
No problem.I remember who it was who was scanning some of Nisei now. http://sirenianheart.tumblr.com/tagged/siren's%20scans
can't spell kinnikuman without kuk
>>140100090
Fucking awful.
Y'know, I had forgotten that the Seven Devils were almost completely different when they first showed up.
Honou no Kinnikuman > Zudadan > Go Fight! > Shinpu > Hustle Muscle
>>140102576
Honoo no Kinnikuman > Kinnikuman! Go Fight! > Hustle Muscle > Kinnikuman Senpu > Zudadan! Kinnikuman.
The other Nisei openings don't exist.
I also liked the new song that Akira Kushida did for that Kinnikuman pachinko game, but I dunno where I'd rate it.
Watched the first five episodes of go fight, enjoying the hell out of it.
>>140103541
>Ataru still hasn't come back for the recent arc
I guess we just cannot have everything at a time.
When will we get another kinnikuman video game?
> A rare Kinnikuman thread
Who collects kinkeshi here?
>>140103869
I'm not that big a fan of Ataru, but I would be down for him showing up for a match.
>>140104257
If you mean an actual console game instead of Japan-only mobile phone games, probably not any time soon.
>>140104359
I don't, but that's mainly because I don't have any display space.
Best tag team
>>140102077
What the fuck, I don't remember that at all.
>>140106664
That fight was so good, the Dream Chojin Tag Arc is prob my favorite.
>>140106483
Pfft. You call that ruthless? A real killer permeats its preys with seasonings and turns them into ramen!Kudos to whoever came up with that idea of "toning down" the anime
>>140106664
I agree.
Anyone got dl link for the first 5 Kinnikuman Nisei volumes? The tumblr only has 6-11
>>140106889
They should be on here.
https://manga.madokami.com/
>>140106923
>140106923
Thanks
>>140106686
I think it was one of those things where they changed their minds in-between chapters. Like Buffaloman's beard.
>>140106796
I wish some of the later brutal deaths were as creative with their censorship. Springman killing Wolfman was remarkably lame in the anime.
Nisei not being scanned, Nisei 2 not being scanned, revival manga not being scanned, Ramenman standalone manga not being scanned...
It's tough being a Kinniku manga fan
>>140107149
oh and also those shitty translations for like, what, a third of OG kinnikuman.
>>140107272
That's the problem of being a niche series. Not everyone likes to see muscle men grappling it up.
>>140107309
Man i guess that is what i like. Baki is another fav of mine.
>>140107149
I'm pretty sure that the revival manga is being actively done, but it's only one person doing it.
>>140107272
To be honest, that's part of why the original manga can be really difficult to recommend to people even more than the content itself.
>>140107309
>Not everyone likes to see muscle men grappling it up.
Pfft, what homos.
Does anyone have a listing of what to watch/read and whats the easiest to check out? If I need to read from kinnikuman 1, cool, but if theres a skip list for filler that'd be great.
I'm not sure whether to get this or hold out for a version with his manga colors.
>>140106830
Kinnikuman clothes are so great
The franchise with the coolest material.I have this one
>>140108243
Start from the first chapter of the manga. You may be tempted to skip some things, but don't.
The anime is a bit of a strange beast in that there's filler even in episodes that are adapted from the manga.
>>140108876
I'd like to buy a few, but man if I don't get a bit antsy about ordering clothes from Japan.
Nisei is great. Had a lot of fun reading it. Still own every mango.
>>140109757
I've been re-reading it lately and having fun doing so, particularly the parts that address popularity and merchandising.
>>140109887
On that note, I find it amusing that these guys have a website and fans despite murdering 650 people.
The greatest thing I've discovered in Kinnikuman is that you don't necessarily need to know japanese to know what the fuck is going on.
I "read" the Ultimate Chojin Tag Arc with only raws and I came to appreaciate Mantaro a lot. I actually liked Chaos and hos character arc.It helped me a lot having summaries and recaps for at least half the arc.Yeah, I know it went on for too long. Is it the longest arc yet? I guess. But thinking it from the authors' perspective, it made sense; bringing back lots and lots of veterans for new fights, giving the second generation some sort of closure by discovering their ancestors and teachers when they were young.Mantaro winning against his father, Suguru's only loss ever, is really heartbreaking, yet so warm at the same time. The mask exchange is one of my favorite sequences in the whole series, to be honest. If only there was a proper translation of that whole arc...
Sadly, I'm pretty sure Yudetamago won't ever touch those characters. It's undersandable since people prefer the characters they grew up with.
Is it Ok to watch the ramenman anime first?
I'd like to watch Kinnikuman but it's far from being completed while Ramenman is fully subbed.
>>140111248
I'd like to think that a translation of the whole arc will be a reality some day. Still, I'm thankful that at least the first three volumes got translated a while back.
>Suguru's only loss everWhat about Prince Kamehame and Mixer Taitei?
>>140094346
>It set the blueprints for shonen (fuck DBZ)
I thought it's more similar to JoJo? That's why I wanted to get into it to be honest.
>>140092318
what about old anime? is it good? I was planning to read the manga but maybe the adaptation is worth it.
>>140111345
I don't see any problem with it, since Ramenman in Tatakae Ramenman seems to be a different character from the one in Kinnikuman.
>>140112653
I think it's worth checking out for the music and casting, but it's by no means a replacement for reading the manga.
>>140112603
It does have some things in common with Dragon Ball, but the most important one is probably quantifying raw power in numbers. Though, Kinnikuman technically did it first as it predates Dragon Ball.
>>140113184
>but it's by no means a replacement for reading the manga
Thanks, good to know. I've also been wondering which medium choose with other classic series
Hokuto no Ken
Saint Seiya
Sakigake!! Otokojuku
City Hunter
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
>>140114378
>Saint Seiya
Anime, definitively.
Trust me, I'm a Latin American
>>140091549
Is it fully scanned yet?
last I checked it barely even made it past the 30's
Why is there so little wrasslin cartoons and comics?
I thought Japan loved this shit
>>140115024
because wrasslin is already like an anime
>>140114936
The original run is vol 1-36
37 and up is the new run
>>140114378
The manga is the way to go for Otokojuku, particularly since I don't think the anime adapted the whole thing anyway.
>>140114936
The entirety of Kinnikuman's original 36 volumes have been available for a while, albeit the quality of the scans and translations is pretty inconsistent.
Speaking of wrasslin anime when is that Tiger Mask one coming out?
>>140115024
I just figured that it was a lack of overlapping interest.
>>140115570
No idea, but this stuff that I hear about part of it being 3DCG doesn't sit well with me.
>>140116035
Raw is Anime though
Post yfw
>>140115024
It's weird WSJ never tried a modern wrestling manga.
>>140116557
>>140116382
You're not wrong but you're not right either.
>>140116382
I can beleb dat
>>140116557
So, why did he shaved before that fight?
>>140116821
Buffaloman's beard traveling back in time and latched onto Warsman's face.
>>140116821
Since he could grow a full head of hair, I kinda figured facial hair was unfortunately not out of the question.
>>140117377
>That chapter with Warsman backstory
>>140117554
It's okay anon. He has friends now.
>>140094288
To me, he kinda grew out of it after losing to kevin
Too bad there haven't been any new kinnikuman games.
>>140119461
Then back to being a jerk to his bro Seiuchin. Maybe I just hate him.
>>140119461
I think it kinda started in the KKD Challenge. Then again, that may just be because it never really hit me how young Mantaro was until The Ninja's fight with Hanzo.
>>140120992
That's no reason to go about ripping off people's faces now, is it?
>>140121312
Well, that's one thing about Nisei because it messed up some of the canon stuff.
Neptuneman was far from reformed while Brocken was a drunkard.
>>140121532
To be honest, I would have preferred it if Neptuneman stayed dead after the Dream Choujin tag arc.
>page 9
>>140123926
Warsman is the best.
Post more Choujin
So was there a reason Terry and Suguru acted the way they did in the nisei tag arc? It seems odd for them to have been so hostile and assholish considering what point in the original the arc takes place in
>>140125116
Thanks to the new kids on the block, Robin's wife was hospitalized.
And with them showing all the weird gadgets and stuff, Suguru was quick to label them as villains trying to pose as justice choujins.
>>140125818
I guess nearly getting your friend's wife killed isn't really the best ice breaker.
