They tried to inject a bit or realism into the cute girls doing cute crap genre.
The characters are completely genertic and the plot could have been written by a 9 year old.
It's esentially the animation of something completely ordinary, the story of the one higschool band out of hundreds of others that made it to the nationals.
Tell me the, how is that supposed to be a good story?
On top of that, all but two of the characters are completely normal/average higschoolers, and even those two that I'm talking about, the yuri girls, are barely different from the rest except that they're gay, which shouldn't be a surprise when there's a school group with some 70 students in modern westernized Japan.
Of course the animation is beautifully enjoyable but that isn't enough to make an anime good.
I honestly found it difficult to maintain focus while watching that boring show and I don't even have TDHD.
