You won't read anything else quite like it, that's for sure. It's a mindfuck in the purest sense of the word. Half the time you have no idea what's going on.

Why does he share an identical powerset with that one guy they hunted who was also stated to be "special forces?" Im pretty sure PTSD doesn't degrade your ego to the point where you develop quasi psychic powers. I don't think it allows bullets to pass through without injuring him, it just makes people shot at where they think he is when he's really standing 5 feet to the side.
One guy manages to figure out the trick at the end if I recall correctly.
That's how I understood it as well. Basically his blank state egoless self deflects and distorts sensory input. Kind of like a stealth bomber disrupting radar tracking (or the zebra/lion analogy if you prefer).
