Tokyo Ghoul was great and set up an interesting story.
Tokyo Ghoul :RE is shit and boring. The author's art took a bad turn and went from really good to chicken-scratch as well. I also noticed that the Tokyo Ghoul threads on /a/ started to become shit as the first manga wound down, and went full dumblr after :RE.

I don't find :re to be as good, I had to put it on hold because I don't really remember what's going on every time a new chapter comes out.Maybe it's because I'm a filthy speedreader.

You shouldn't be that surprised when that was around the time the anime happened. Anime brings the cancer.
At first I thought the ending to Part 1 was kind of poorly paced and structured, it felt kind of abrupt
But now that we've gotten a ways in to Part 2 I feel it makes more sense
As a whole I really like the series. In :re the art can definitely be hard to follow at times, but I also like the characters and think the setting is interesting. Though Arima is pretty ridiculous.

It's pretty good. Well planned in advance, with continuous character arcs for a lot of character, fun twists and super entertaining villains. Ishida is guilty of sometimes making idiots out of characters to progress the plot forward and of some really poor world building which imo stems from the general premise not making a whole lot of sense but that and some genericness aside, it's still better than most.

i am watching the anime right now, and a lot of things feel rushed and/or lack explanations
for example, when kaneki infiltrates the high security prison he meets shachi, that brutally attacks him for smelling like rize. in the anime, it is neither explained in which relationsship rize and shachi were, nor why kaneki was ordered to free shachi.
after he is knocked out, kaneki is fighting the pidgeon officer that had the power of toukas father.
feels very confusing, like some scenes and dialogue are missing inbetween.
otherwise, fun stuff.

Haven't read the manga yet but I didn't dislike the anime. It did what it meant to do which was to portray the show's themes in the best way possible and to demonstrate Kaneki's character arc along with it. If the manga readers actually mean it when they say the fights aren't really important in terms of narrative and it's all about the drama then I don't see why it gets so much hate. Did the anime do something wrong in those regards?
I liked it before it became Tokyo Ghoul:re and focused mostly on the CCG people who I didn't give a shit about. I dropped re: around chapter 55 or somethimg.

I feel like the whole point of the episode flew by your heads. Still your points don't hold much weight here since they already mentioned it in the beginning of the series that the story will be original. Maybe you were disappointed because of your wrong expectations.

We were disappointed because season 2 is a fucking clusterfuck of a mess and doesn't make sense at all. All these characters get introduced without a backstory, half of the story from the manga was cut while STILL SHOWING THINGS from the manga that built on the things that were not shown.
There is literally nothing that could justify that.
Ishida gave Studio Pierrot a draft with an alternative storyline that he himself wrote but they scrapped that and did their own shit. Fuck Studio Pierrot.

I enjoy reading it chapter by chapter, but I've found that occasionally rereading the 20 previous chapters successively makes the story flow so much better than weekly installments.
Like the recent series of reveals has been somewhat jarring in a weekly format. Butre-reading the chapters back to back from Kaneki regaining his memories makes the plot flow so much more organically.
For me, the story becomes more enjoyable as consequence.
