Animes is gramatically correct because we're speaking English here and anime is a word in english meaning "japanese cartoon" thus it follows English grammar rules. To the japanese anime means any animation. So unless you use anime to describe literally every animation or are speaking japanese, animes is the correct plural tense of anime.
