The plot just stops being meaningful after episode 16. The only good character dies even earlier. The entire planet is heavily reliant on Simon because everyone else is a jobber for no actual reason.
It feels like someone's fanfiction was animated with a huge budget. It was complete garbage. At least Kill la Kill had decent characters.
