Just read the first chapter, and I gotta say I'm not enamored with the whole

He has misconstrued ideas of what strength and "invincibility" are. The story is largely about him coming to terms with what it means to be strong and what he has done with his life since he was 13. So no, the story is actually very much anti-edge. You aren't supposed to think he has the right idea or is a good person in the early sections of the work.

Couldn't have described it better than this guy. He becomes a bit too spiritual and philosophical later on for my liking, but it's still pretty cool to see where he originally came from. Anime makes it seem like everyone in Japan knows who Miyamoto Musashi is at any rate
