There was a war against the Big 3 in about 2009-10ish but it eventually ended.
Officially only Naruto was banned but people wanted to expand it, the thing is the mods didn't really comply with that to my recollection, /a/ simply made Bleach/OP threads miserable for a while, but the thing is they fought back, it was just ugly.
There also was a general purge in what was it, I think 2011, which threw the board into chaos for a couple weeks. The thing was they basically came back soon after, just not in name. We still have these "totally not a general" generals today.
