>Japanese audience acceptance and increasing demand for CG.
>Japan realizing streaming video is actually a good idea is trying to grow in towards that direction for domestic and foreign markets.

But I thought Pachinko revenue was going down.
>>
>>139917093
Laws have been changed to become stricter but the pachinko people adapted fast
>>
>>139916655
This is fascinating

Japan is also realizing the importance of streaming globally especially in making shows specifically for those platforms

Expect more shows exclusively for Netflix coming soon

I could swear I saw threads about anime reclining in the past 2 years. Glad to know it wasn't true.

FTFY

If you check the anime archive charts for that year, there was no megahit show that time.

What does this matter if anime itself keeps getting worse?

Id rather it died so I could be free

When will nips start exporting pachinko overseas?

I want to try it and see what it is all about.
>>
>>139917320
There are pachinko videogames you know.
Its the same shit
>>
>>139917281
Looking at the graph it's indeed going down, at least the merch and the pachinko is saving the industry.
>>

what is

>>
>>139917319
You'll miss it. You'll watch old shows, even the harem ecchi shit and yaoi fujoshit that you skip because you're trapped forever.
>>
>>139917129
Aren't they actually moving forward to legalize gambling to some degree in time for the Olympics?
>>
>>139917320
It's a stupid machine slot game for autists. I can't comprehend it's still a thing in this day and age.
>>
>>139917406
Idol concerts,seiyuu events
>>
>>139917320
Pachinko is just a way for some Japanese to legally gamble by winning some "prizes" which can then be "sold" to "special buyers" for money.

It's just slot machines. Pachinko with anime is just more fancy slot machines, where you get to see nicely animated sequences from video games or anime shows whenever you do something like unlocking more balls tumbling down, getting an extra chance to play again, or even double or triple your score so that you can gain an even higher price that you can then exchange for money.
The pachinko machines are getting popular enough that some people really just play them for the fancy anime scenes than just to try to win money prices.

Netflix and Hulu are stating to get big in Japan if I'm reading the reports correctly. Also Crunchyroll is a big part of their profit.

>>
>>139917706
It's explained in the pachinko arc from Kaiji, the machine he plays is an expensive one but you can get an idea of how it works. You can get money or prizes depending on the balls you got.
>>
>>139917706
Gambling is always going to be bad for you.
But it's addictive, and pachinko machines use fanservice shots of cute anime girls or very awesome dramatic action sequences to distract you and to give you small rewards for playing pachinko in the first place.
>>
>>139917706
No.
>>
Asians love gambling.

>Research shows Asians in the U.S. have a disproportionate number of pathological gamblers (i.e. addicted) as compared to the general American population. According to Dr. Timothy Fong, an associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA and co-director of the UCLA Gambling Studies Program, the rate of gambling addiction ranges from 6 percent to nearly 60 percent, depending on the specific Asian ethnicity (Southeast Asian refugees scoring highest) as opposed to the national rate of 1-2 percent.
>>
>>139917857
What I find more surprising is that, while they have such a high number of gamblers, most of their their gambling games are shit.

>>
How could glorious Nips be into such primitive shit like Pachinko?
>>
>>139917897
That's of course because gambling is illegal in most countries, so they have to use cheap alternate gambling games which are masquerading as not being gambling at all.

Gambling is literally about the fact that whatever you play, the house always wins in the long run i.e. you will hardly gain anything unless you bet big and get absurdly lucky

>one of the S.E.A nations
Ha no way. The animation industry in those countries are an even bigger joke.

You're better of betting on Taiwan, HK and S.Korea.
>>
>>139918625
Some countries do have their own animation industry and are also the source of cheap labor for Japanese animation studios to do outsourced work, so they do have experience with making Japanese-style animation. But in general, I would not expect any other nation in Asia trying to outcompete Japan. At most, they're only going to continue emulating their style because it's just that popular.
>>
>>139918692
Do we actually know why manglobe went belly over? Sure, SamFlam and Gangsta did not sell, but plenty of studios make flops every now and then and they are still fine.
>>
>>139918780

They only have experience with being in-betweens that is a far cry from actually making anime. Just look that joke of a kickstarter called Devil's Legacy.

Manglobe did several consecutive flops for several years, didn't get hired that often to do adaptions, made some original anime that sold really terrible, and even the adaptions they did sold not that well and didn't increase sales of the original source product they were hired to advertise for.

tl;dr: Manglobe didn't get enough work, and squandered the little amount of its money in unprofitable original anime.
>>
>>139918625
Fun is illegal in the PRC, so that's a no. HK and Taiwan are increasingly slaves to the mainland, because that's where most of the Chinese market is.

I'd guess Korea. If I understand the history correctly, a lot of older animators cut their teeth as rookies doing the same kind of in-betweening and overflow that they send to Korea today. Whether that translates into directing their own works in the future, I don't know.

There is a good animated movie from foreign countries every few years but they are always flops since nobody gives a shit about them

Didn't China make a LoL anime about its players?
Also they made Chinese Gumball
>>

I wouldn't say 'illegal' because small amounts of gambling can produce a lot of happiness, but there should definitely be a limit.

China really is the only big contender that can come close.

Next is S.Korea then maybe Taiwan?

More like it should always be legal.
If the fucker lost all his money in a casino then he would have lost the same amount somewhere else.

I reckon just force them to make the odds statistics plated somewhere on the machine or table they're using so people are aware at all times what their chances are.

Hell no, just educate those asian monkeys better in what good entertainment is.

They produce just as many tv shows as America and have access to American shows. Same with video games

Why the fuck would they waste time adapting shit for a niche audience when they have a large, active and respectable enough film industry

Luckily nobody cares about anime. European governments don't even know they exist and too few people are interested in them so sue-fags rather target people who torrent Hollywood movies.

>>139918831

Many Korean studios do full episode production now. When you look at episode credits and see that the episode director is Korean, there's a good chance the entire episode has been outsourced.

Japanese indeed don't care if westeners pirate anime, all they get from the western market is companies buying the rights of animus. They couldn't give less of a fuck about what the west does with them.

Who is this guy?
>>
>>139930968
Apparently some dude involved in the fansubbing scene, and also involved with some other dude who owns the manga porn website Fakku. Might be mixing them up, perhaps.

Different revenue sources go to different places, though. Like, I assume a smaller slice of pachinko profits go to the studio than DVD/BD sales.
>>
>>139918415
That's not how it works. As long as the product sells something, it is fine. It doesn't have to sell itself.

Why doesn't he post anymore? I saw him in a thread some days ago, but he was just shilling for CR and Fakku.
>>
>>139937144
I do still post here.

And I don't shill for anyone. I talk about FAKKU because I work there and the subject comes up every now and then, and I also talk about other legit digital distro services (and digital distribution in general) because the subject is something I care about a lot.

Also, I have no idea what could have even given you the impression that I was "shilling" for CR, considering that whenever I talk about them I'm usually criticizing them for their shortcomings (of which there are many).

Hook, line, and sinker. Just a few days ago I got Herkz to tweet my post where I grossly falsified his supposed opinion on Rakugo. You guys are just too easy. Here's to the Cartel suing me for slander.
>>
>>139937553
So how long until CR and Funi improve their video players?
>>
>>139939380
Funi is so incompetent that it's unlikely they're going to do anything good except by accident, and even if CR has the technical know-how they clearly just don't give a fuck (like how they haven't updated anything in their encoding setup since 2011), so I wouldn't hold my breath on either.

Funi is supposedly switching to softsubs in May though. We'll see how that goes.
