The problem with CL is that it took it easy for the first 6 episodes then tried to build a very big plot about guardians of planets and conspiracies in the next 6. The pacing was rushed as hell and in the end we didnt have enough adventuring. I feel like CL could be many times better if it was 2 cour.

My impression from the first episode was that they were in a world inside the crystal. I'm not sure that still holds up after this episode, but it might make a little more story sense than hollow earth.

This show is great.
It feels like playing an MMO, and not in an edgy way like SAO. Very generic, but pretty colors and interesting objects and monsters. It appeals to my autism a lot. Reminds me of watching shows like Pokemon when I was 10.

The planes were a whole different issue, but the premise problem was the mech designs themselves. Every other mech we see in the series followed a simplistic design paradigm, and then we have the Argevollen which followed none of those paradigms and doesn't even look like it came from their world. The design divide is so different, for no reason and with no sense of evolution in tech that led to its creation or why it looks the way it does, that it's actually offensive to see it on the same screen with any of the grunt mechs. It might as well have been "found" in a meteor crater dating back 200,000 years and not have been native technology at all. At least A/Z had the decency to explain how the Vers mechs weren't even built by the humans, just nigger-rigged to make the alien tech operable by humans that were Magically Touched by Asshime's pervy granddad (or her deceased Ddad, RIP Gilzeria) and that was how hey got away with their outlandishly freakish designs compared to the Earth-tech mechs which followed a pattern of evolution easily traceable between Inaho's juiced-up trainer and the frontline mechs.
That's my beef with Argevollen, and why I can't understand why anyone would consider it good. Believing that the little blond bitch's company shat that design out on a whim requires the same suspension of disbelief it would take to have a blacksmith in 4th century Gaul suddenly decide to and succeed in forging a functioning double-bladed lightsaber when everyone else is carrying spathas from a tech design that hadn't evolved in centuries.
