And before someone criticizes my "not enough deaths" complaint, I am far from the type of person who wants a lot of blood and death in an anime. I don't care for what teenagers consider "dark and edgy" but I think more deaths on the side of the good guys would have hammered home the point how serious their situation was and how important family is. They really screwed up on that part as well as the implication that Mikazuki and the others were turning into "monsters".

That being said, I enjoyed it. I never missed a new episode, whereas on other shows I might fall behind or miss a few weeks and catch up. But I enjoyed IBO enough to consistently follow releases at least.

Beams are easier to make a fight look interesting, which benefits a lot of Gundam series with more fights in it.
The focus on melee (because guns were completely fucking useless in IBO), and non-instant kill beam sabers at that, means that IBO fights need to be more elaborate and interesting. The only issue is that they clearly didn't have the budget or effort to back this up, so we have less fights overall, with most of those having shitty animation.

I don't think the show was bad. In fact I think it was pretty good, especially if you like to draw deeper meaning from shows. It had some moments when the animation would take you out of it, and some of the tropes weren't done correctly. It was overall a good show.

I often consider it lately even though I enjoy the whole anonymity thing and being able to just jump in and out of threads without any lingering bullshit that's going to follow me around everywhere I go which is about the biggest upside of the site. I've been here about 2 years now and still feel mostly sane through it all though there were some pretty bad weeks during the Winter season. Literally the correlation between /a/ being exceptionally awful or not seems to revolve around their being a Kyoani and/or Shaft show airing during it.
We'll see how Spring goes before I make any long term decisions. Thanks though.
