I was actually happy for a moment that the shoujo guy finally stood against Mary Sue's selfishness and acted like a real person would. It's almost like he acted like a male reader and knew that if they did long distance "shoujo college senpai archetype B" and "shoujo eccentric artsy free love professor archetype D" would be making passes at her the entire time.
But of course it got crushed in the next chapter.
