Wow, villain is introduced and gets beaten in half an episode. Tons of drama that has no impact. And the whole arc feels like it come out of nowhere to impose these dumb situations for the sake of the plot.
The horrible pacing is really ruining this. I can't wait until it's over so that I can go read the manga. I expect that one to actually deliver.

You're all calling it out for being generic, but the manga was over for years before Naruto, HxH, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Black Clover, Boku no Hero and tons of other Shounen even had their first chapter published. Also, manga is much darker than series.

This episode was emotionally intense. Anime characters scream and cry a lot but I really felt it this episode. I'd be doing the same in their place.
This show does girl characters better than most shounen I can think of. Not useless and annoying like most.

this part really got me. Asako's monologue before her 'sacrifice' was heart-rending. When she said she also wanted to go on dates with a boy she love, I almost didnt want to see the next scene play out.
In any case, of course she'll be saved. But the narration leading up to her jump was almost too effective that I forgot that everything'd gonna be ok.
So is this new opening made entirely of in-episode scenes? It looks good compared to the usual episode quality, but worse than the previous openings.
