Powers have gotten pretty cool. If anything most quincies have really broken powers so the heroes actually have to use tricksor asspullsto defeat them and not just power of friendship their way to victory.

Fairy Tail actually happens at a good, campy pace and knows it's an excuse for fanservice. Bleach's writing is shit despite being slow so it's bad even as junk food. Its main entertainment now are the creator and fans convinced it's smart and stylish.

Bleach's problem is that it sucks even at the formula. It only has 4 locations to develop and they are all nonsensical shit the more he adds to them. He goes the extra step by stealing his stories from other shounen mangas and finds ways to tell them worse. Then he copies himself and still makes it worse.
There is a difference between using a formula and having no idea how one works. Kubo does not even know where to put a sympathetic flashback when he kills some dipshit. His character gimmicks and powers are so stupid anything more complicated than "he done use both hands" or "he done use three fingers" turns into a nonsensical mess.
This guy can't stop finding ways to suck at his job.
