What the fuck kind of disease needs 7 different kind of meds?
>>
>>139762935
I've known people who were on even more than that. AIDS, cancer, autoimmune disorders, Parkinsons, all easily can do that.
>>
Taking 7 kinds of meds is several kinds of fucked up. The list of side effects would be horrifying.
>>
I take 3 different kinds, just for my rheumatoid arthritis knee.

It feels like shit
>>
Anything heart related. You need a pill to slow your heartbeat? Sure, but now you need a pill to make sure you don't die from fluid retention and so on and so forth.

Also anything kidney related. The kidney controls the levels of a lot of different blood components, and each pill usually only affects one or two.

There are the side effects of the drugs mads themselves, but even worse is that the various molecules from the initial meds (let's say level 1 molecules) start to react with each other to give new molecules (let's say level 2), with their own effects.

Then level 2 molecules can also react with each others (giving level 3-A) and with level 1 (giving level 3-B)

Then level 3 can react with each others and all the previous levels to give 4-A, 4-B, 4-C, 4-D, etc... In the ends, you just don't know what could happen.

In general, doctors consider that if you take more than 3 or 4 meds at the same time, the effects can't be predicted with certainty anymore. That's why ywhen you have a lot to take, you have to do it with a precise schedule to avoid taking everything at the same time, but even with that there are still risks.

I remember my grandpa used to take like 5 or 6 different ones as well. Looking at my overall health and the fact that I have issues in every spot, I'd say I'll be taking 30 a day in the not so distant future.

If you have poorly controlled blood pressure and diabetes, you're looking at potentially 7 meds just for that alone.

A lot, especially for type 2. With type 1, you're looking at many different choices of insulin.

With non-insulin dependent type 2, you got a whole bunch of classes of meds.
>biguanides (really, mostly just metformin and metformin derivatives)
>sulfonylureas (like glipizide and glyburide and whatnot; also a shit)
>DPP-4 inhibitors (like Januvia)
>TZDs (like Actos)
>SGLT2 inhibitors (all those ____gliflozins)
All of these can and often are used together.

And if you have insulin-dependent type 2 diabetes, then you're looking at the same smorgasbord of insulins type 1 gets.

I take 7 different meds daily for 2 different conditions. It's a combination of pain killers and drugs that actually help suppress my condition. There has actually been multiple time as a baby/small child were I almost died(not related to health problems) yet the gods chose to intervene and save me so I could suffer later in life. I guess I did some fucked up shit in my past lives.
