I know I'm not perfect at giving my body what it needs to refuel after a run. Recognizing my bad habits has helped me pay more attention to what I eat. I have been known to rush through my day without making nutrition a priority, so I work hard to prepare healthy snacks in advance of my runs and while the kids are at school.
Reminder that you should read an article from http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/ every day.

I have notised that some kanji are pronounsed the same (onyomy) if they include a same element in it. Is there a table or reference on kanji groupped by reading by this rule. Remembering some will helped a lor memorizing some readings in vocabulary?
Is なまえ a loanword? Looks like the word "name" to me.

Reading through that page might help to put it in a little perspective, just keep this one line in mind:

Do you really think that the Japanese had no word for "name" until the 1600s?
Sometimes I feel like I am losing interest in Japanese content. I look at the new shows airing at the beginning of a season and barely any of them seem interesting. But the other day I watched the entire Grimgar season in one day, and yesterday I watched all of Boku dake ga Inai Machi. I absolutely loved both of them. I think I'm just worrying over nothing.

that's not your fault, most of the new anime nowadays literally are just generic garbage churned out of the horses ass. there's always a few good anime as well though, you just gotta have a good eye to find it.

>>139758578
Not him, I thought Grimgar was pretty ass. I dropped it at ep 4(?) whena character deathwas really poorly handled. But seeing that the current state of anime is not superb does not mean you have nostalgia goggles on. The stuff of yesteryear was ass as well, '90s-fags only remember the Berserks and Evas and Slayers and forget all the garbage. Anime's golden age was '06-'13 or so; right now the anime scene is polluted with LN schlock. Magical school, faux-harem, chuunishit, dragged-into-an-alternate-world, only-guy-in-a-girls-school-that-just-went-co-ed-or-some-shit, and CGshit are all becoming common genres and with few exceptions the are all trash. There are still a few good shows most seasons, but percentage-wise fewer than in the last few years, IMO.

>>139759243
Not true. Like I think the music scene of today is better than when I was younger. Soundcloud and Bandcamp and stuff have made it much easier for aspiring musicians to get their music out to the public and there is a near-endless supply of good music coming out for whatever genre you're into. I just don't think the same for anime. I concur with >>139758895, "Nostalgia goggles" is a retarded phrase that present-worshippers shit out for no reason. Yeah, Kill Me Baby is my favorite anime/manga of all time (close second is Joshiraku).
I like dark humor and cute things, and kill me baby delivers a wonderful combination of this. You've got these two cute characters, who constantly run into all kinds of situations, which usually end up with someone getting hurt and a fun amount of cynicism. It's like slapstick, but a bit more dark and with cute as fuck characters.
There's a scene in which Yasuna wants to go catch some rare flat snake in the mountains and has a hammer amongst her equipment, Sonya asks what the hammer is for and Yasuna answers "見つけなかったらそれで適当なヘビを" with this hilarious expression and voice.
I'd say it's one of the best examples of what I like about the series.
Not to mention the low-budget-esque atmosphere of the anime which blends in perfectly with the content. And the dancing at the end.

Thank you for answering. It's interesting because I do like dark humor but didn't really get that vibe in a sufficient quantity from what I did read. However, the situation you mention does sound great. I might as well give it a second chance, perhaps starting by the anime this time.

I'm already perfectly identifiable by the content of my posts discussing the guide, I might just as well attach a cute image to it.
It's also not that tiny of a pool (about 500 images total), it's just that most of them don't seem that fitting since they're either more action-packed scenes, or aren't as well drawn or cute as others.

>>139768378
Yeah the main underlying cause is a good portion of 4chan being butthurt haters.
>>139768174
That may be why YOU hate Reddit, but there's more to it.
I don't know about other boards, cause I know for damn sure that the majority of people on the bigger ones are ex-Redditors and throw the word around like /a/ does for /v/, but one of the main reasons /a/ and Reddit don't get along is because of their views on piracy, ロリ, and 3D.
>>139768378
I don't disagree, but in small subreddits the amount of voting tends to be small and most comments end up being presented equally anyway. And in many threads comments are sorted by newness rather than vote amount. I also rather dislike reddit as a whole but when it comes to certain smaller topics there isn't anywhere else to go to discuss them.

I use /r/ssbm for discussion of SSBM and occasionally /r/games for game news. /v/ has, incredibly, actually become worse than reddit over the past few years so I don't have many options. Reddit is not without its uses, but all of its anime-related subs are really terrible and /a/ is better in nearly every way. I hear /r/visualnovels is okay too but I don't visit there so I don't know.
>>139768651
/r/visualnovels only problem is that in the untranslated discussion threads, the vast majority of posters are people learning Japanese and thus their posts ALWAYS talk about language difficulty, how excited they are to be reading in Japanese, etc etc. It's unbelievably obnoxious.

just so you know theres almost nowhere you can go to have eroge discussion in english that doesnt have that shit
in fact all the people trying to learn japanese to that end are running after the carrot dangling in front of them holding the memes created by those involved in localization to their chest
you should just abandon english entirely to escape
>>139768824
>imho
Yes, you are.

I judge individual communities based on their actual merits. I have indeed visited /r/learnjapanese before and if it were any good then I would be a regular. Sadly it is not though. It's filled to the brim with people who have been studying for six months and don't know the hiragana, wanikani kool-aid drinkers, and idiots who proselytize retarded study methods while demonizing legitimate ones just because they differ from their own choices.
Hm, the last one there sounded a bit like us, didn't it? Even so, here is a lot better than there.

Not in the slightest. What legitimate method do we demonize?

For the most part DJT's methods are absolutely sound: compelling content and overwhelming context. But the one area I feel we falter in is recommending paths for individual kanji study. Among DJTers, RTK is shunned in favor of Kanjidamage, in my opinion an inferior program, even though RTK has helped countless people immensely in learning the kanji. This is because of the retarded concept of pitting RTK vs. vocab in some war, as in >>139769451 and in pic related. In reality this is absurd because everyone has to learn vocab regardless, there is just the option of doing individual kanji study to help you grasp the concept of a character-based writing system.
No comment on Kodansha as opposed to KD or RTK since it is not freely available and I haven't checked it out.
>>139769603
>the retarded concept of pitting RTK vs. vocab in some war
RTK and vocab did have a war, were you not here in 2014? fucking awful.
>>139769603
>But the one area I feel we falter in is recommending paths for individual kanji study
This general has always been about the best and FASTEST ways to learn Japanese. Learning Kanji individually is not within that window.
Regardless there is still a section that talks about it in the guide, and I have seen people support RTK here, the only opinions against it I see are 1. Just learn vocab m8 and 2. Too many mnemonics is a bad time.
>>139769526
That was my first one. I hope you learn something from this experience.

The end of 2014 was the only time frame that I remember having full threads of nothing but RTK vs Vocabulary, consistently, for days. There are still arguments now but they peter out when the single thread dies, or even before so.

The advice in this thread and in the guide is complete bullshit. Do it the Fuwa way.

>>139770041

The grammar guide is better, just saying.
>asking about は vs が

You should be looking up the translations more often
>>139770338
That's pretty clearly a copy-pasted question from reddit/koohii. Don't waste your time.
>>139770173
Back when OP posted daily kanji. When KD was the standard recommended path for beginners. When learning through vocab wasn't common enough for most people to even understand how it worked. Those were the true dark ages. Any skirmishes since are nothing in comparison.
Now that people are at least aware that you still do learn kanji when you study vocab the stakes aren't nearly as high.
>>139770338

I don't know if it's technically incorrect but in my experience using straight negative for a request is uncommon. もらえませんか (potential negative) or もらえないでしょうか is better.
>>139770173
We must keep that argument going. RTK is frowned upon because the average DJT user is expected to have the mental capacity to learn kanji through vocab alone. Mnemonics are for unintelligent people with poor retention.
>>139770411
>Thank you though.
No need to thank me, I punked out on helping with は・が so really I didn't do anything. Though in the end that was a lucky decision.
>>139770466
You can safely assume that anyone claiming to be Australian on the internet is a giant spider.
>>139770544
I'm pretty sure it's right. It's just the difference between saying "Can't you ____?" and "Can you____?" as far as I know.
>>139770664
Straight negative is more common when you are asking a question that isn't a request for a favor. Something like 食べないか? as "Will you eat"? But if you're asking as a favor it lacks the politeness factor
>>139764375
Do you seriously even need a guide for that?
You can learn kana in a day or two.
>>139770727
Oh also, it's wrong in the sentence above either way. Since he says 誰か, making someone else the subject, it should be くれませんか
>>139770773
What's the point? You can just use Roumanjis. It's way easier to read that way.
>>139770244
Thanks for being specific in pointing out my mistakes! I was sort of lazy about it on purpose so I could get all the help I wanted. And I dont really have an excuse for being so bad at Japanese other than the fact that it was one of those easy-A high school courses.

てくださいませんか
てくださいますか
てください
てくれませんか
てくれますか
てくれない?
てくれる?
てくれ
て
This is off the top of my head though.

youre flaming me and not really disputing me at all in a meaningful way nii chan

If you're ignorant enough to think that もらいませんか is the same politeness as もらえないでしょうか while at the same time being overconfident enough to argue about it then I don't think there's any way to convince you of anything.
>think about the people who want to learn for a change instead of your own ego
I'm not the one "correcting" more advanced learners.
Shit I suppose I shouldn't be sticking with the もらう example considering the meanings even change. Still, there are definitely politeness differences between different ways of asking.

Wrong. Since it's in my perspective and I'm the one (wanting to) receiving the help, it's もらえませんか。
>>139771571
誰か、手伝ってくれませんか won't someone help?
誰か(に)手伝ってもらえませんか? Can I get help from someone?
I think the former is a bit better if you want to use the 誰か

>>139771778
Oh I feel silly now. Thank you! I always did get the rules for もらう and くれる mixed up together. I guess I was convinced that I had to be right because no one else in the thread seemed to have noticed such a huge mistake like that.

This explanation doesn't even make sense. Based on what he's saying, the phrase 勉強しなければならない would literally mean "If you refuse to not study, it won't become." So if you study, it won't become. So you shouldn't study. But it means the opposite. That poster is an idiot.

I wish the voice button was more common. I replayed the audio so much in Hanahira but rarely in Flyable Heart because going into the backlog screws up the text hooker. It was more of a problem when I used Translation Aggregator. It isn't that bad using the Furigana Inserter + Firefox method.
>>139773617
>I replayed the audio so much in Hanahira
im real fuckin sorry for you right now dude like id actually hug you for that you deserve one

>>139773690
Fuck off, jamal. Your bullying is not welcome here. Everyone who reads Hanahira is going to be a beginner so it's natural for him or for anyone to replay the audio a lot to get a feel for the sentences.
>>139773780
I prefer when every line is voiced so you can just turn the text off and when the characters are animtated
