Well, EGOIST was formed simply to make music for Guilty Crown and they're still making music.
So GC is, I guess, an accidental music anime? Not to mention that the music they make is pretty damn sweet (Fallen is one of my favorites).
k-on stands head and shouldrs above not just every other anime ever made but every tv series ever made. For depth of feeling generated the only other thing that comes close to rivalling it is the tv series the sopranos. It is the zenith of entertainment

Still making music doesn't mean anything. Asian Kung Fu Generation still made plenty of music outside of anime songs. Kotoko made plenty of music outside of anime songs. Ohtsuki Kenji made songs outside of anime. I could go on and on but none of what they did afterwards was related to the series.
The amount, and quality of music, made for specifically for K-on is unrivaledoutside of idol anime. I'm honestly willing to bend to Love Live or Idolmaster, etc
