The girls in slice of life shows pre-K-On! had some resemblance to actual human beings, they told jokes and made reference to biological functions in a humor context.
The scene from OP has a period joke in it, and several other scenes start with them talking about shit smelling bad.
Azumanga Daioh had Osaka telling fart jokes.
That shit doesn't happen anymore, moe has bent over backwards on itself and ruined this genre.

If you're really looking for a slice of life that isn't just filled with moeshit, then Wagnaria!! was a good one.
Yes, it had plenty of cute moments but I feel like the fact that "Everyone has some odd quirk" made it funny and enjoyable.
