how would you feel about a 2016 remake of YYH /a/?
>>
>>139708385
I'd rather have a Shaman King remake.
>>
>>139708385
If they rewrite or get rid of the last arc, sure, that'd be nice
>>
>>139708385
It doesn't need one.
>>
It'd get pretty meshi.
>>
>>139708385
yes
>>
>>139708385
literally no reason to make another. The anime was fine. sometimes you just gotta let things rest in peace
>>
I would blindly hate it before actually watching it
>>
>>139708385
On one hand, the earlier arcs could definitely use some touching up
On the other hand, I think they could only ever butcher the art style.
It's not even so much as it needs a remake so much as it is that it'd be cool to see some old fights redone the same as how HxH 2011 has some really killer fight scenes, despite being pretty poor compared to the earlier series.

Three levels of shading nigger!
>>
>>139708385
I'd be up for it if they change it a little to keep Kuwabara relevant throughout.

Waiting on my Fighting Foodon remake.
>>

Lucky for you Shinbo is actually directing again. Maybe another miracle will happen.
>>

I'd love to see an epic Madhouse adaption : )

Would prefer other WSJ manga to get readapted like Ruouni Kenshin or Gash Bell.
>>
NEEDLESS remake when?
>>
>>139711246
Yes Yuyu had a complete adaptation, Rurouni Kenshin and Zash would be great if they got 100% complete adaptation
>>
>>139711246
Ruroken remake? hell yeah
>>
>>139711246

it would be great to see the last arc animated

>>
>>139708524
yeah last arc was disappointing. Why even have a barrier when its that much of a joke in the demon world.
>>
>>139714436
Not even that it was a joke, just that it made no sense to have demons that can cross over as long as they follow the rules. Demons following rules is retarded. Demons being chaotic evil by default is what made the personalities and perspectives of Shinobu and Taguro so compelling. The final arc almost undermines the Chapter Black arc because the big threat was that A and S class demons could spill over into the human world. The Three Kings arc shows us that A and S class demons frankly have better things to do.

>>139708438
Yeah this. Shaman King really needs one considering the original ending.

>>139708524
>>139714436
The last arc is essential. In the ending, Yusuke's plight is a metaphor for Togashi's own feelings towards writing manga. Its about knowing when enough is enough and walking away with your dignity in tact. In some ways its commentary on the genre of never ending action manga that repeat themselves ad infinitum, long after the original story is told for no real purpose other than to not disappoint others. Sometimes you have to do what's best for you, and understand that the world will keep turning with or without you.

>>

>>
>>139715509
While I'm fine with that, I just hated the whole Yusuke walking in with a bag full of lots and tells the person who could have probably just taken everything over with relative ease they should have a tournament to see who should run things. It was just silly.
>>
>>139718640
this
anime went for original content too fast
>>
>>139708385
This world doesn't deserve a remake of the best shonen anime ever done
>>
I would be pretty mad. It has such a memorable OST and artstyle. OP is amazing too. It can only really go downhill.
>>
>>139708385

If it's anything like DBS and Sailor Moon I'd rather they leave it alone.
>>
>>139708385
If it is all about Yusuke running around being the spirit detective, then yes, I'm all for it. If it is just more tournament fights and large battles, then forget it.

In other words, no.
>>
>>139715043

I read the manga version and it's....kind of sweet in parts, but really lame overall. The author really emphasizes how non-evil demons are overall, and it's a hollow storytelling element, even lamer than the "don't underestimate us humans" shpiel in the FMA manga.

I'd love a proper adaptation of Gash.

Seeing the final Clear Note fight animated would be amazing.

Seeing Shin Poruku animated would be hype as fuck.

They would have to completely redo the Faudo arc because of how much shit they changed in the anime.

Its a shame a lot of people don't know the hype that is the golden spellbook.

All that being said, I don't trust the studios of today to not fuck up the art style of YYH.

>cast almost entirely comprised of male characters
>it would be moeblob

This doesn't work the way you think it does.
>>
>>139721541

This. If they would just do a series about Yusuke being a goddamn spirit detective I would fund the fuck out of it. When you think about it in retrospect, he really didn't perform a whole lot of detective duties before he got thrust into the Dark Tournament and at that point he became just a fighter. I would love to see the whole gang go about random misadventures which is, really, what it should have been all along.
>>
>>139723237

I would murder my own father if it meant seeing Hiei animated in glorious modern art techniques.

Like DB Super?
>>
>>139712348
what's wrong with Madhouse?
>>
>>139724602

No. DB and Sailor Moon are only two of many recent reboots and I know Toei is at fault for their poor production values. But Toei never had anything to do with YYH so I even though I haven't seen each and every reboot thats been shit out in recent years, I have faith that YYH would be treated well. Ushio & Tora looks like it has fine production value and the recent Dororon Enma-kun was fucking fantastic compared to the old one. Lupin's modern anime projects are solid installments and then of course theres Young Black Jack but I haven't seen much of anything talked about that here. Honestly, reboots are 50/50 at this point.

A remake is a terrible idea.

>>
>>139711246

Kenshin anime's never gonna get the Enishi arc right
>>
>>139721821

Yeah but the idea that all demons are chaotic evil is dumb considering half of the main cast is (relatively) good demons. Granted it shouldn't be shoved down our throats but I'm fine with demons just being chaotic neutral by default
>>
>>139712693
KC is really overrated. I don't understand what all the hubbub was about.
>>
>>139719866
that's not how YYH ends.
>>
>>139726109
>Hiei and Kurama
>Good

Kurama only cared about his mom, and Hiei just had some sick and twisted morals.

They were by no means good until the end of the Dark Tournament. They only helped Yusuke earlier so they could get out of their sentences to HELL.
>>
>>139708385
So bleach?
>>139708438
Make it shaman king brotherhood,no fucking 4kids censorship crap
>>
Do kids these days even watch YYH?

Only if you watched it on Cartoon Network or something that it should still have any value today.
>>
>>139726571

And honestly just because Hiei and Kurama ended up truly becoming Yusuke's friends it doesn't mean that they're "good" demons. Hiei showed multiple times that he still has a bad streak but its just a bit more subdued than it originally was and Kurama puts on a good facade but he's still the same thief he'd always been. Neutral evil is a good way to describe most of the demons in the show because even though they might not be ripping the spinal chords out of living humans and using them as a straw to suck up blood, they're still not GOOD. Demons are inherently evil one way or another.
>>
>>139726662
I showed it to my friend and she loved it. It's pretty timeless and entertaining.

Watching someone get introduced to the Toguro brothers never gets old.

>Is his power just muscles?
Yes
>>
>>139726662

False. YYH was extremely popular back in the day, so popular in fact that its the only series to ever come close to rivaling DBZ. Its a certified classic and any anime fan worth their weight in shit should have seen it.

>>139726643

The similarities between Bleach and YYH are negligent at best. Also, update your meme repertoire. 2012 called for you, bro.
>>

Hope not, all threads will end up being nothing but old vs new. You'll never get any kind of discussion out of the series. Remakes bring out the worse kind of people.

>>139708438
>I'd rather have a Shaman King remake.
Fucking this.
>>
>>139726990
Yeah. I'm still really bitter at how YYH ended. I'm hoping if there's ever a remake, they somehow extend it with a new ending.

That said, the OST from the original is timeless - even after all these years I can recall the dramatic tune that plays during battles. There's a lot of potential for fuck up...but seeing at YYH got shafted by its own author...I hope someone one day will do it justice.
>>
>>139708385
only if they use the same VAs for the dub.
they were too perfect.
>>
>>139727257
Shaman king was cancelled for a reason. It really loses it's luster during the shaman king tournament. Everyones powers get replaced with just fucking BEAMS. I'm a bit torn about the ending, because I like how refreshingly different it is.

But at the same time, you can't help but feel cheated that the heroes all lose.
>>
>>139726571

Do you not know what 'relatively' means?

And it doesn't matter when they started being "good", because you've even admitted that there was a point where they picked that up

>>139726770

Don't know if you're the same guy, but Yukina's a demon. She had resentment toward her clan, but for good reason. She's farther from evil than most humans on the show. Kurama protects people he cares for, and Hiei grows to enjoy Yusuke's company. They're more on the Chaotic Good spectrum, with Hiei arguably being the token evil dude for a while. He could've been far worse, like Vegeta, but even long after the sentences were cleared he had no ill will toward humans aside from Kuwabara, and that was mostly harmless rivalry
>>
>>139727834

And considering Hiei had nothing left to fight for near the end, he essentially became a true neutral. Pretty far from what he was like to begin with
>>
>>139727544

Why do you feel cheated? Like halfway through the series it was established that there was no way in hell that they could beat him. That's beautiful to me
>>
>>139727952
>Like halfway through the series it was established that there was no way in hell that they could beat him. That's beautiful to me

Well yeah, but the situation in most stories have a "glimmer of hope". They don't even fucking come close, it makes all their effort and growth feel like a waste of time.

Like I said, the ending is refreshing from what I'm used to. but Hao's mom just slapping him and telling him to stop was the most underwhelming thing.
>>
I'd rather have a Kenshin remake with decent animation instead of still image slideshows for fights. Also adapt the final fucking arc you lazy twats.

why do people like this? I read through like a 100+ chapters and I'm on the millennium demon arc and I'm bored as fuck.

I sort of liked it and I kept reading it because an anon said it was really creative but I struggle to see the creativity when I'm a 1/3 of the way into the manga. Is Gash Bell worth reading on?
>>
>>139728505
Inuyasha is a flaming pile of shit that needs to be left alone thanks.
>>
>>139728094

>>
>>139728423
By not being completely retarded.
>>
>>139728423
it had a lot of filler padding in each episode. They also would start each episode with a few minutes of what happened in the previous episode.
This in addition to an already included "Episode recap"
>>
>>139728759
So it was like current one piece anime tier padding, where they adapt like 9 pages per episode?
>>
>>139728759
Still did a better job than FMA and Ao no Exorcist.

I don't know how they fucked Ao no Exorcist up so badly. They could've ended the arc as the manga did and leave it open ended for future seasons but they went full retard.
>>
>>139728759
At least there weren't any filler arcs.
>>
>>139728696
Inuyasha started fine. Somewhere down the line the author just started padding with demons that had fuck all to do with anything and it became EXTREMELY repetitive. Add in no character growth and you got Inuyasha.

The only manga I can think of that's more repetitive is Detective Conan.

>>139728825
pretty much, they padded scenes with extra dialogue, putting Botan in places for added "commentary".

It kinda is, since they shove his situation down your throat with every case.

The entire point of the series is for him to get his fucking body back, and the mother fucker has made barely any progress aside from finding out who some members are.

I would eat it up. Although I'm one of those faggots who enjoys the crude lines from 90s and pre animation so maybe I would be sad to see it so smooth and clean.
>>
>>139729750

Yeah but isn't that just about the raddest thing you've ever heard of?

I mean, Ami worst girl for sure (inb4 all the Amifags come to her defense) but its a cool idea for sure. Bet we wouldn't be getting the absolute shit that is Crystal right now if Naoko had gotten her wish.

You're pretty much describing me, my favorite guys are always the ones people like to scream Sasuke-clone about but, perhaps ironically, I wouldn't touch Sasuke with a ten foot pole. I like my men to be brooding badasses, not brooding little bitches.

Oh my god, the self insert fics you'd torture yourself with just to feel even the tiniest bit of satisfaction. Not to go too out of control here, but there is actually one Hiei x reader fic that wasn't fucking awful and I can easily find it if you want a link. You know. For old times sake.

Age old question:
Sub or Dub?

dub
>>
>>139730367

Don't be ashamed. Vegeta was the first mainstream hit for that kind of character and Hiei perfected it. Everyone else is just emulating the masters.
>>
>>139730756
I like both. The dub takes a lot of liberties, but it has some funny stuff.

However the sub has an overall great cast, the dub however is kinda mixed. Sniper was recasted for the Blu-ray dub because the original actor was so terrible.
>>
>>139730756

Please don't start
>>
>>139730756
Agreed, but I tend to hear voices one way and chose that version over the other if given an option. I know Welcome to the NHK has a shit dub, but I watched it first that way so it's stuck with me as their voices, no matter how shitty.
>>
>>139728520
yeah, it gets better. millennium demon arc is a hit or miss for a lot of people.
>>
>>139730785
>Vegeta was the first mainstream hit for that kind of character

Wouldn't that be Raoh? Hokuto came first and everyone fucking loved him.
>>
>>139730756
good question

>Dub for:
Justin Cook
Best version of Smile Bomb
A MULBERRY IS A TREE, BUT KUWABARA IS A MAN

>Sub for:
pretty much everything else

gotta go with dub
>>
>>139730635
Sasuke was bearable for a bit - but then Naruto went to shit in general so I never bothered to keep up.

Link me! Actually, I stayed away from HieixOC because I couldn't relate most of the times. I...I actually used Botan as a self insert. Mostly because she was the least offensive female character I should imagine with Hiei and I thought the dynamic was interesting.
>>
>>139730785
I think Vegeta has the benefit of not being effete and being more emotive while Hiei is the begininng of the "Sasuke" muted rival clad in dark colors.

>>139730756
Never even heard the nip voices honestly I'm sad the HD versions of YYH are sub only.
>>
>>139710364
2011 was not even close to poor, even when compared to the 99 version. I love the 99 version the most, but to say 2011 was poor is just stupid. You're stupid.
>>
>>139730756
Surprisingly, the dub for me. It was pretty great - they look a lot of liberties with the script, but the jokes were actually funny and the cheese factor just the right amount. I actually think the dub for the main cast is much more entertaining.
>>
>>139730990
I actually thought Vegeta was quite obnoxious. Then again, I hated DB and if anything Vegeta was my favorite...but that doesn't count for much.
>>
>>139730990
>Never even heard the nip voices honestly I'm sad the HD versions of YYH are sub only.

The blu-rays aren't in HD? And the Jap voices are good. Kuwabara's takes a little adjusting if you're used to the dub voices.

>>139731061
the main cast, yeah, everyone else is pretty wooden.
>>
>>139730933
Do the spells get more creative after millenium demon arc? When the Riddle professor first appeared and told Kiyomaro the secret of the book, I thought he'd finally unlock all the spells or something or get something more amazing than a spell that just makes Gash stronger.

I was holding out for JoJo tier powers and so far it's just Lightning + Stronger lightning + even stronger lightning + maybe the shield spell.
>>
>>139731121
>hating dragonball

how?
>>
>>139731162
He gets another spell in that arc. He gets a shit ton of crazy spells in the next arc and Kiyomaro gets a new ability.

I didn't dislike them, I just don't know why they did it.
>>
>>139731258
Ah, that's really piqued my curiosity! I dropped it yesterday because it felt really repetitive but I guess I just have to get past that specific arc.

I'll definitely read on now since the spells get more crazy, thanks senpai.
>>
>>139731024
I actually just finished the Hunter Exam arc of the '99 anime and so far it's been better than 2011 in most respects. Really, the only complaints I have is that the colors are kind of inconsistent. They seem to get brighter or darker for no particular reason in some scenes, even mundane ones where they're just standing around and talking. I also think some of the filler was unnecessary and didn't add much.
>>
>>139731149
Last time I searched for the YYH blu-rays it was sub-only, but I admit I was drunk and probably managed to overlook one with the dub

This one is nice because it doesn't go full Mary-Sue, even later on in the story your character doesn't have any world bending powers or anything that makes her particularly special. Unfortunately, it was never finished and not reading the conclusion to it is by far one of the saddest regrets I have in life (every few years I actually try to contact the author but so far she has not responded) BUT its so damn long it'll give you at least a few days worth of emotions. The only thing I will warn you about is that the start is a little rough, luckily the first few chapters aren't too long but at first it seems like your typical shitty self insert but it gets a lot better. The author developed into a really good storyteller surprisingly fast.

Aaaaand of course the site is down. The full thing is on

But to get you started, you can read the first 9 chapters here

Once FanWorks is back up and running just search for the title or her screen name. Things get hot and heavy deep into the story so I definitely suggest sticking through the rough start. And for shits and giggles, heres my email if you want to contact me. thefourthmagi@gmail.
>>
>>139731348
Honestly the millennium demons arc pales in comparison to the next two arcs, since that's when things go crazy.
>>
>>139731412
My initial exposure to DB was not great. I'm not interested pursuing it thanks.
>>
AND SUDDENLY
>>
>>139731491
Yeah, I just hope it doesn't go on for much longer. I did enjoy Kyanchome's fight, where he becomes the surroundings, at the start though so I guess it's won't be complete torture pushing through it.
>>
>>139731483

Oh, and by hot and heavy I mean in a totally conceivable way. Hiei doesn't really like you at first, just like he would if you met him for real, and theres never a point where he madly professes his love to you. The authors characterization was really good and I'm sorry for babbling about this ancient fanfic but it pretty much defined me as a young teen and I just can't forget about it no matter how many years pass. ;_;

It wouldn't have the same GOAT dub voices. The only show I can think Dub is good on is YYH
>>
>>139708557
This

The animation and vas would likely be worse

The dub is the pinnacle of dubs
>>
>>139732139
2bh, that would actually deserve a remake since the anime just sounds deathly silent all the time because there's usually no OST or sound running except when the characters talk so it just feels depressing as fuck for a boxing anime.
>>
>>139730756
I'll probably be the only one to say it, but I prefer the Japanese voice actors.

So much emphasis is put on Hao's psychology and ties to his past guiding his future that his mom being what takes him down is kind of the most appropriate end for him i felt.

And it was nice where the 'invincible villain no one can beat' actually lives up to the hype.

>2011 was not even close to poor
It had good fight sequences in places, but it's character design butchers the originals, it's sound design is atrocious, and it's overall aesthetics leave a lot to be desired (hint: HxH and Nanatsu no Taizai shouldn't look comparable in style)

Try getting some taste pleb
