I suggest watching up until Thriller Bark, then switch to the manga. The anime up until that point is no where near the shitstorm Toei reduced it to, but before that it's fine.

step 2: search for read one piece manga
step 3: click on one of many options.
There are many sites out there that have all the chapters online. Most people just read it online.
