XYZ and Pendulums are both good ideas they just need to add their requirements to dial their abilities back.
XYZ would be great with if you could only summon rank 5 or higher monsters.
Pendulum would be great if you could only summon level 4 or lower monsters but you couldn't special summon/battle the turn you used it.
Now its a cluster fuck where the second turn usually wins the duel in a first turn kill.

I feel like Field Spells are basically 2 or 3 continuous spell cards rolled into one. The drawback usually being that they generally could end up helping both players and there was increased risk of it getting blown up since the other player used to be able to blow it up just by playing a field spell of their own.
Now that both players can have field spells, it's gone to be just another slot for continuous spell effects. And besides Field Spells always were more of a flavored version of continuous spells anyway. At least they are trying to make an archetype that gets powered up by Field Spells with the Tramids, without going the full "Need a field spell to live" that were the Earthbound Immortals

Field spells were generally used to provide equal effects to both player(such as Chicken Game). The one who activated it usually gains more advantage simply because most of his cards fulfilled the conditions while the opponent does not have such cards.
Now look at Domain, Kozmotown, Revolving Switchyard etc, they are nothing different compared to your average continuous spell cards except of the mark and searchable with Terraforming. The uniqueness of field spells is getting diminished days by days.
Pic related is one of the newest stadium cards(similar to Yu-gi-oh field spells, they affect both players simultaneously) from Pokemon, which instead of acting as one-sided support card, it has a chance to boost the opponent's card as well.

I don't really get this "ruined the game" meme. I've been playing fairly competitively since a meta really started, and the game has always been pretty bad with only one or two formats where it's been legitimate fun required skill to play. Sure the game has changed since Xyz and Pendulum came in, but I don't think the game is inherently worse because of it, just different. Yugioh has always been pretty bullshit.
In all honesty the only time I can think of that wasn't like what we have now (Just without those darn black and multicolored cards) was Goat control. Otherwise it's always been the same thing, just now the broken cards are a different color.

It's possible, but even so, both High Speed Riders and Wing Raiders contained the archetype that their dimensions respective Yu used in addition. So even if some Predator Plants get printed in other sets, its very likely that they get reprints and additional cards in the Fusion SP (if it happens). The pattern seems to be that they contain their Yu archetype (Speedroids and Phantom Knights), an archetype used by another anime character from the same dimension (Red Dragon Archfiend and Raidraptors respectively), a unique archetype not appearing in the anime (PSY-Frame and Super Quantum), and then miscellaneous reprints to support the other stuff.

I'm hoping for Ancient Gears although a new fusion archetype might get shilled by the non-Jobelisks in the Xyz arc that could preempt it. I'm more interested in what they might do with the unique archetype. Super Quantums are one of my favorite decks in a long time. Up there with my dumb Masked Heros/U.A. deck and my classic Spellcasters deck (from around Dark Eradicator Warlocks time)
