A boy falls in love with a girl.

Good thing, so long as the current anime audience is the one putting their money where their mouth is.
If we avoid being outbid by Tumblr-types, yeah, good thing. More money for studios, ideally leading to better budgets and therefore better animation and story quality. Excess money means more risk-taking, and more daring projects, and hopefully more willingness to finish already established series.
They'd be less chained to LN/manga publishers and the Otaku audience.
I guess it ultimately comes down to how much pandering the studios would do... or if they trust that the current foreigner audience for anime in general likes it for what it is, and doesn't need to be pandered to or changed to fit Westerner tastes.
