The writer and artist had a disagreement with each other. Due to that, they refused to continue working together. In the very early days, that was the news that appeared until it got scrubbed by updated politically-correct news that it was simply on hiatus. So the chances of more appearing are nil especially after such a long period of time. This long delay means all the tooling for merchandising is essentially gone or recycled, so it would be prohibitively expensive to remake and restart merchandising for what amounts to a "remainder" of the series.

I was talking about the "they had a disagreement" thing. Far as I know it's never been confirmed what the cause was, just speculated, not that I don't believe something as silly as a disagreement would cause a hiatus.
It is annoying that it's in hiatus rather than just being canceled.
