My crackpot theory for what happened at Marineford is that BB had to cover Whitebeard in total darkness as a prerequisite to stealing his Gura-Gura abilities. Blackbeards entire plan rides on him having the Yami-Yami fruit so there has to be something more to it than just being able to neutralize devil fruit users at touch. Which, by the way, is strange. It also gives BB the ability to suck everything in, leading me to the crack part of the theory that BB can suck in the devils of the fruit in total darkness. Stretch I know but the neutralizing of other devil fruit users at a touch was defined by BB himself as a characteristic of his fruits ability in pic related. The total darkness part might not be important, like maybe he just has to be in contact with the user for a set amount of time, but I just like the Idea of an eclipse happening and for those few minutes Blackbeard becomes unbeatable.

Shirahoshi as Poseidon is a massive Mermaid, a symbol used often in ship figureheads.

I think the Ancient Weapons are supposed to form into a great and powerful flying ship. And Blackbeard is going to take the Ancient Weapons as his own.
And I think, whatever the Void Century it will have some woman named Queen Anne, so this fusing of ships, a flying monstrosity that destroys islands, commands Sea Kings with its figurehead, and flies in sea and sky, will be Blackbeard's proper ship: The Queen Anne's Revenge.
He's got the fleet, he's got the men, all that's left is the ship and tools to make this HIS era, and turning a weapon of war like all three ancient weapons, into a pirate ship, is the real way to solidify his era.
