Tanigawa is only a good writer when he does the good, plot-heavy novels. The rest is just about terrible.
Sigh is a horrible, 200-page-long filler absurdity that won't make you laugh any second of it. The only good thing about it is Mikuru telling Kyon that not everyone in the SOS is his ally. And that's it.
Boredom's only noticeable for introducing the Tanabata time-travel shenanigans. The rest is awfully boring.
Rampage's Snowy Mountain Syndrome is fun. Guess why? It's the only serious one that's longer than 40 pages. The only decent thing in that book.

I still have to read the rest of the novels, but they only decent ones from those 6 are Melancholy, Disappearance. He writes mostly shitty short stories and terrible "mystery" /whodunit. It's bad.

The problem is that most of it is pointless. Mikuru Episode 00 just doesn't work in written form. Neither does Live A Live. Day of Sagittarius doesn't either. He simply can't write these stories, and it really shows when his plot stories are SO much better. It's just not his style.

KyoAni can't make anything Haruhi by themselves because it's up to Kadokawa. Kadokawa doesn't want to do anything with it because they have no LN material to promote.
Haruhi's generic LN monologues and ecchi scenarios are just so awful, does it really get better?
