Its not bright, vivid, simple and clean like most anime nowadays will look. Its somewhat detailed, colors are dark and it looks rough.
Also the music will be good since susumu is doing a song and sagisu, I hope I don't have the name wrong, is doing the soundtrack and I happen to like the GA movies OST.

The only thing that's dark are the backgrounds and Guts's armor. The character models in contrast have very bright colors, which looks very strange and awkward with the dark forest setting as the backdrop, and hell, the armor and clothing on all the characters are way too crisp and clean-looking. You would expect them to look somewhat worn out and dirtier (especially for Guts), but nah, we got them all looking squeaky clean and simple.
Just because there's some awkward-looking shading effects applied on the models, it doesn't make the anime look any darker than other anime that use digital production.
