Does this show have any happy endings?
>>
Yes, kinda
>>
>>139625764
For varying definitions of happy.
>>
>>139625764
Although most people might find it unsatisfying, it gives you a real one.
>>
>>139625764
You think the show is bad? Read the manga. It merges the book and the show adding a darker tone.
>>
>>139625764
The manga ends on a happy note, but it feels cheap and unsatisfying considering everything that happened before.

yes, satou literally sucks it up and finishes college and starts working also he ends up with misaki, the end
>>
Why was senpai such a whore.
>>
>>139626340
a whore AND a gold digger.
>>
>>139626044
No it doesn't.

In fact it's the oposite, the anime merges the book and the manga
>>
>>139626487
yes, but why?

Thanks for the answers
It just did seem like I was only getting more depressed from watching it at times.
>>
>>139626705
you're not alone anon
>>
>>139626557
cause she is a manipulative bitch
>>
I can't be the only one that thought the manga was pretty much garbage and the book was a pretty good read.

Perhaps I'm alone in that opinion or it's because I read the manga right after the book.
>>
>>139626705
It actually lifted my mood. What does that say about me?
>>
>>139626889
Pretty much the general concensus in /a/ is that novel > anime > shit >>>>>>> manga

all got depressed for that shit, but its over now, no more feels
>>
>>139627103
it made me feel like there is a slimmer of hope for my future
>>
Happy endings for Yamazaki (moving to work at the farm, dating a cute girl) and Senpai (engaged, love saved by off meeting arc).
There's a possibility of a happy ending for Satou and Misaki, it isn't completed when the anime ends, but the two of them are working with each other to have a happy ending.
It's more of a "hope for a better future" thing than a definitive happy ending.
>>
>>139626871
Satou was no saint either, I thought Hitomi was pretty cool. She's just troubled.
>>
>>139628157
>I thought Hitomi was pretty cool
Cuck.
>>
>>139628157
I always felt like the only reason Hitomi liked Satou was because he was pathetic just like her.

I mean, I love how realistic it is. About life and our chances in it. Come to the realization that when it rains it pours and you gotta keep on going.

If you start feeling sorry for yourself, you'll think it's all a conspiracy.
>>
>>139629183
Also, reminded me of Japan. That feeling I guess
>>
>>139628157
I liked Hitomi when she was just his senpai
>>
The anime's ending was pretty happy. It gave me hope that I could turn my life around too.
>>
>>139629375
Same

Crazy how this thread is better than 90% of the threads on /a/ simply because it is on topic.
>>
>>139626045
>finishes college
Why would they put that on the ending? It doesn't happen on the manga or LN and doesn't serve any purpose since Satou is still a hikikomori that lives as a freeter now.
>>
>>139629745
Because it showed transition out of the conspiracy of the NHK.
>>
>>139629495
>wageslave
>struggle
>retire
>die
Yeah, how great.
>>
>>139629789
>transition out of the conspiracy of the NHK
He stopped taking drugs?
>>
>>139629991
And now you understand why the point was that living as a hikikomori is a luxury.
>>
>>139630046
Drugs were pretty much removed from the manga and used just for a couple of jokes at the beginning.

Living truly is amazing.
>>
>>139629675
There was a thread about NHK about a week ago where a guy and I talked about the anime, getting pretty detailed and all that. People really like to talk about this particular anime.
>>
Why didn't Satou just get a job?

What was his fucking problem?
>>
>>139631395
Crippling social anxiety, paranoia, and depression. It's hard to pull yourself out of that on your own.
>>
>>139631395
>this b8 again
>>
>>139630671
If it's such a luxury, why didn't Misaki realize this and just leave him alone?
>>
>>139631571
Because Misaki was pretty fucked up too and wanted a lowlife like Satou to fall in love with her so she could feel better abput herself
>>
>>139631362
Because it's good. I really like the animation style, and it reminds me of anime before there was more western influence. What is this animation style called? The 2005-2008 look?

The OP and ED only has a few words in english, and they never really make references about things outside Japan.

Hard to find that anymore.
>>
>>139631571
It's a "luxury" in that it can only really happen in first world countries.

That by no way means Satou was happy living like that. He wasn't. As is made abundantly clear throughout the show and novel.
>>
>>139631650
I'm only on episode 21, hence why I made this thread.

But this honestly sounds like the right answer. She's kind of a failed saint who seeks out others who have fallen further than her to help out. They haven't really explained who she is or what her motives are past that.

Is she in a church organization?
>>
>>139631867
No she just does the church thing because she feels indebted to her aunt.

Just keep watching to the end before asking stupid questions htat get answered in the show
>>
>>139625764
She would accept him even if she doesn't like him as long as he is a failed person and in love with her.

He would never become successful and he has already admitted that he loves her.

So yes, not really though.
>>
>>139631867
>failed saint
top kek. Waifufags I swear. She is the most malicious character on the show and as pathetic as the rest of the cast.
>>
>>139631979
Alright. I guess after waiting 21 episodes I gave up hope on the answers.

Well, there haven't really been any happy endings so far, but that's life. I'll let this thread die now.
>>
>>139632029
I didn't have a good word.

Failed Saints can be malicious. It's like someone who tries to save a baby bird that fell out its nest by climbing the tree and putting it back. But all it leads to is the chick jumping out again.
>>
why did satou became a hikikomori in the first place?
>>
>>139632138
Yeah but she wants the chick to jump. She isn't putting it back in their by any good faith.
She'd clip its wings so it would never learn to fly and but a mattress under its nest so it would never die.
>>
The book was better. As someone who's been in that situation. I like that it was written with an attention to deal that could have only come from personal experience.

>that t-shirt in the first panel
>>

He doesn't finishes college, I don't know what the other anon is talking about.
>>
>>139636892
Th manga ending was so shit I barely remeber it at all, but he did become a game designer, can't remember if he finished college, tho
>>
>>139636892
my mistake, it's been years since i last read it

does the anime also end with misaki and satou rekindling their relationship inside of the attic of the apartment complex while a construction crew is demolishing the building they're in?
>>
>>139630671
Yes, it's a luxury. But you're haunted by the sin that you're just doing nothing all day while your parents fed you everyday.
>>
>>139637041
No, that was manga only.
>>
>>139637041
Thats why all those fags go on about depressing it was.
From what I've read here the anime is the best because of the ending was in the middle between the manga and the novel.
OP I found the ending good it resolves most things and has darker implications. Worth finishing and reflecting on.
