I'm willing to bet 90% of /a/ are 3.5. Nearly all of this board acknowledges that there are fantastic shows with some great artistic value, but also enjoys cute girls doing cute things as relief for their shitty lives.
I also think a lot of /a/ unironically does enjoy a lot of stage 2 stuff, and there's the fact that a lot of the stage 1 films fall into stage 3.
Honestly, I don't think Stage 1 really exists these days- it's much more common for people to get into the medium via friends going "Hey let's sit down and watch a couple episodes of Jojo's/SnK/FMA/Whatever entry-level shonen you can name".
And there's also the fact that a bunch of stage 2 style shonens are actually worth watching and not absolute garbage. Stuff like Jojo's, Psycho-Pass, or FMA do have redeeming qualities that keep them from becoming totally unwatchable once someone hits stage.

The first anime i watched was Eva, was freaked the fuck out and didn't watch any for a while. then i watched some shonenshit and most popular shit, DBZ and the like. At some point, i re watched eva and watched EOE, and realized it was actually really good. I tried watching moeshit, it was alright and i could sit through it, but it didn't interest me enough to watch more than a couple series before i started just watching random anime without searching for particular genres.
TLDR: everyones taste differs, not everyone is going to like the same kind of anime

Jojo's is trash, if you try to find anything artistic or meaningful about it, you're right. The thing is that Jojo is good not due to any artistic value, but because of how brilliant of a fight writer Araki is. He's an exceptionally creative fight and power designer, and actively pushed the entire Shonen genre ahead by a decade by forcing them to become more creative to compete.
Before Jojo, especially Part 3, Shonen was limited to stuff like Dragonball, Hokuto no Ken, or Ashita no Joe- 2/3 of which were very well written, but still fairly straightforward stuff without terribly creative fights or powers.
Then Jojo Part 2 showed up, and showed just how creative even basic martial powers like in HnK can be, with Joseph and Caesar both being very creative with Hamon. And then Part 3 blew that creativity out of the water. Stuff like Stands were entirely new to Shonen manga, and had exceptionally creative powers, even from the very beginning.
This is why Jojo is good, not because of any artistic merit, which I'll be the first to admit there isn't any of, at all.
