So you're the one who doesn't like yanderes?

explain the appeal of the yandere archtype to me.

Asakura wasn't a yandere.
She just didn't want Yuki to get shot by Kyon.

They are shit

I honestly have no idea. The appeal might come from the wish fulfillment of a woman who's completely devoted to you?

Most people on this board use anime and/or manga as a form of escapism.
"Escape from what?" I hear you ask.
Life is made up of many fears, regrets and embarassments. These are the three key reasons for people to get into escapism.
Notably, it can be said that betrayal can be a fear, a regret and an embarassment at the same time.
Of course, most times we don't even see what is in front of our eyes. The human brain has developed a mechanism to ignore its own nose. Which is to say, many times we're not aware of betrayals we are the victims of, and specially, the actors of.
The latter might not have much to do with this special ocasion, however, fear and regret of betrayal, specially regret, might be the reason why some are into yanderes.
For they know they're extremely loyal and obsessive, they have no fear of being betrayed.
And more importantly, for they know if they again betray someone, they'll die.
I dare say, if you ever lose your interest in yanderes again, you'll end up betraying someone again.
If you laughed while reading this, my diagnosis has been accurate.
