Why are shonen villains so dumb.
Only villains I can think of that are actually intelligent are One Piece villains and Black Zetsu.
Because if they were intelligent then they wouldn't lose to shonen heroes who are, categorically, also stupid

Shounen heroes are often weaker than their villains, at least at the start of the fight. Either they get a mid-fight powerup, use some trick to win, or use 'that'

It only makes sense, since most shounen writers are idiots who make their MC's even more braindead than they are, when they try to write an "evil genius" villain they always end up fucking it up because no one as stupid as the average shounen MC would ever even be able to touch someone with a reasonable degree of intelligence and common sense.

Aizen is just 'lol hypnosis distracts everyone' though. He's wasn't an impressive long term planner or tactician and he deliberately took unnecessary risks when he didn't need to. Yhwach is probably a better tactician than Aizen. Super Buu was probably smarter because he constantly tried to bait people into being absorbed and used their cockiness against them.

so are western villains
when you get down to it too many bad guys in fiction are just pushovers so the viewer/reader can feel good when the good guys win, even when it isn't deserved.

Dio a shit. Despite the shit he gets for being a bad character, Diavolo always tried to kill people on the spot unless it compromised keeping his face a secret. He never toyed with people except for Bruno (who he 'kills' immediately after anyway) and he never did the retarded punch rush, he'd always get behind people without them realising and do a single punch through the chest or karate chop their arm off.
He was pretty smart except for his extreme paranoia regarding people finding his identity, and when he made risky decisions regarding it he knew they were risky. And he only dies because of a deus ex machina.

His original plan was to bully Jonathan and gain favor of everyone, then murder his adoptive father and inherit everything. Somehow he adapted by stealing Jonathan's body and surviving.
Along part 3, it did seem pretty dumb how he didn't just send a bunch of killers instead of 1 at a time.
At least he was careful when it came to trying to decapitate jotaro with a stop sign.

His 2 year plan of starting his own organization/army and effectively taking over a country, without having to get involved with a war was perfect. He even had everyone on his side, no one suspected it. Very logical dude, the thread is about intelligence not strength. He got his own men to infiltrate both the royal army and the rebel army, to effectively fuel a war.
Keeping nico robin around, knowing about the Pluton weapon and poneglyphs show that he is very knowledgeable too.
And defeating a sand logia with just water on your fists is such an ass pull.

The Darbies don't even like each other because of their different opinions on games, cheating, and other stuff. It's possible that their relationship problems would fuck over whatever strategy they have against the Jojos. I'm not defending Dio's intelligence here, but if I don't think forcing people who hate each other to work together is that great of a plan.
