The pacing is normal, its not lacking in content nor it crams too much of it. The color palette fits. WhiteFox staff are doing a great job adapting the source material. It's pretty much a 1:1 adaptation with some animation liberties that adds up to the shows' charm.I want to protect Subaru's smile. The heroines are doing such a shit job on making him happy.

Jin-Roh had suffering, and I loved that. More recently, so did Bokumachi which I also enjoyed. Suffering alone doesn't make a good story, though. Raildex and Fate has lots of suffering and both of those series are hot fucking garbage.

What I'm getting at is how is it pulled off? Is it something with frequent time loops that plays out like an action series where he fights and dies a lot and resets it, or is it more like Bokumachi where there's a longer timeline that he tries to go through, takes notes and then resets from a good ways back to try again? Are the solutions he comes up with clever based on what he's seen, or is it contrived plot induced miracle solutions followed by more ridiculous suffering? Just piling on bad thigns without rhyme or reason makes for shitty writing and boring story telling. All I've heard so far is "The MC suffers a lot and he has a time rewind power that lets him try to fix it."

It's not extremly clever but yes, he does plan out stuff. In the second arc, he decides to first identify the killer and then set it up so that he can kill himself if things go wrong and change things the next time. In the end, he found out who the killer was, but was murdered by the person.

Its like a dating sim where the MC is forces to find his way through the perfect route where there is no casualties involved and he is alive in the end. If he die, he is sent back to the start point where everything gets reset aside from his memories and reduced sanity. There wasn't the build up necessary for it to make sense, or more simply, it lacked the Elza telling them outright about taking it after murdering them.
