-Growth of Charaters with Time (Mental,Moral and Physical Growth).
-Death of all Protagonists with time (a long time)(one by one).
-Sadness and Death to be constant Themes.
-Choices in life and their Consequences.
-People living in poor conditions (due to the war)
-All the Humanity living in a colosal-wide world underground.

LotGH is a good recommendation,but i think that something with more action,drama and terror would be better.
also,what i undestand about the LotGH is that the Main Characters are playing big roles in the beginning.

One of the problems that i had in the beginning was finding a good reason for

I feel like it would be interesting to start out with characters as apathetic and nihilistic at the begining, thinking everything is shades of grey and whatnot. Over the course of the story, they learn that there are things worth fighting for, and that that some things really are that bad, and worth dying to thwart.
