My favorite thing about the show was the characters, unique concepts, the realness of the situations(reactions), the fact that charcters, almost always made the best decision they could that makes since naturally with their personalities, truely a great show, further helped by madhouse's animation, voice actors, music, etc

I tried reading the manga about 5 years or so. Couldn't get past the hunter exam because of the shit drawing and overall boring story.
Gave it another go with the 2011 version and loved it to bits. I started reading the manga where the anime left off.

There's really no way to convince you to like a certain style of art but good luck arguing against Togashi's sense of composition and panelling, and there's no issue with his anatomy, movement etc either. His art was perfectly clean and polished during that period of time, the worst you can say about it is that it was light on backgrounds.
