What's with the weird changes of style and animation in this show? It's pretty jarring.
Also, pls no spoilers.

>>139504055
Those are from the same episode tho.
Some scenes were "remastered" for later releases
>>139504141
Why lie though?
>>139504590
Honestly the older style looks way better.
>>139504750
Blame the early 2000's
>>139504750
However, some of the scenes that were replaced had glaring animation errors or were basically slideshows. There's one battle in particular that was really, really bad in the original.
The replaced scenes pretty much stop altogether after the first quarter of the show though.
>>139504141
You can't be serious?
I wonder how the new show is gonna look like.
I hope they won't have those gay ass huge anime eyes, it wouldn't fit the style of LoGH.
>>139504486
Man.... it's just not the same without Kircheis. I was so used to him and Reinhard, it's just not the same anymore.
>>139504019
Different studios.

There are other characters more deserving of being called "the worst".

Fahrenheit dies.
>>139507148
>He was forced into it.
How so?
I don't remember exactly what happened, but it was the most convoluted part of the story and it made no sense at all.
>>139507090
Wait, by "second in command", are you implying that such an uncharismatic character should have been Yang's successor? You're really not making a strong case for your opinion here.

>>139507663
If we're going to completely refresh the VA talent, then I want Susumu Chiba as Bittenfeld.
>>139507663
Junichi Suwabe is pretty much Wakamoto v2.
https://youtu.be/2sYrG-3YwTw?t=43
>>139507312
He was still older and more experienced than Julian.
>>139507663
Reinhard truly has one of a kind voice and no one could ever replace him. I don't even know who was his VA, he was in DBZ or something huge like that.
>>139508207
Reinhard's VA is Vegeta.
And Kou in Stardust Memories apparently, wasn't expecting that one.

Julian was specifically sent on errands and subjeted to philosophical lectures in order to forge him into the leader Yang expected him to be.
Attenborough, by your own admission, had no personality, and by extension, no development. So why should he have been Julian's superior?
>>139508346
is this show worth watching?
>>139504019

>>139509261
Yeah the Earth arc was the only part of the shw I didn't like
Julian was such a faggot
>>139508861
Code Geass has pretty badass designs.
>>139507851
Problem was if Reuenthal outlived the Kaiser, he was 100% guaranteed going to go for Prime Minister and ultimately Kaiser himself
If he lived there was a 100% guarantee of a rebellion on the Empire's side, but with him dead there would only be FPA rebellions somewhere down the line
>>139509261
>>139507851
>>139507462
Actually, it made a lot of sense.
If you watched carefully, you would have noticed that Reuenthal was a chaotic neutral character who gave no fucks.
>>139509363
I'm currently rewatching since I ordered the novel lately, actually enjoying the Free Planets Alliance side a lot more when I thought they were pretty boring, especially knowing the full extent of Rubkinsky's plans in advance and Trunith makes things more interesting.
Julian was such a bore, he had zero charisma at all and couldn't really carry things like Yang, Rhinehard, Kircheis, etc. He's like someone who was just there for the sake of being there.
For anyone who has the novel yet is there an appendix of sorts for the names of characters on either side and where exactly does the first novel end?
>>139510008
The novel has a list of characters at the start, I believe.
>>139504486
>The ugly motherfucker with the moustache and the mullet lives I think

>>139510008

>>139510555
The first two novels got official translations recently.
There's a few weird romanization choices for some names but otherwise I hear it's solid.
>>139510555
Novels got translated into English, volume 1 got released last month but I do own a first edition of volume 4 in Nipponese.
>>139510008
Yea there's a list. It ends after Iserlohn.
>>139509930
Not to mention the whole thing about Reinhard declaring that he would accept a challenge to his position, even from a subordinate. The early flashbacks with Mittermeyer and the reflective internal monologues touching on the three-way friendship was some big-time foreshadowing. Even Reuental and Mittermeyer's banter right after getting out of a meeting showed hints in retrospect.
Reuental was never a stranger to the idea of playing the game; the Fezzani plot just gave him an excuse to.

>>139511739
>>139511750
Ehh, I never watched the two prequel shows.
>>139504019
he worst things about those scenes besides the terrible 5FPS animation were the eyes. The LoGH eyes glitter and flicker with the light, they give a sense of depth and are fantastic, the newer drawn ones are totally flat most of the time.
>>139511750
>>139511750
I kind of want a couple short stories about Arle leading his people through space until they eventually reach Phezzan but something about the empire after 110 and seeing whether the peace Lohengram created really lasted would be great to see.

>>139515861
Kill yourself.
>>139515861
I've already finished the series twice over so it's pretty difficult to spoiler me at this point. Impressive effort, though.
Doesn't change the fact that spoiler dumps are literally pointless and fucking embarrassing. I know you're used to whatever general culture you fester in and need spoilers to keep secondaries away, but that simply isn't the case with the occasional-at-best LoGH threads.
>>139515593
It's a mixed bag. The redraws are definitely more on-model, but the colour tone is jarring. It's like no-one consulted each other on palettes.
I wonder about the originial Director's intention, too. In some of the posted examples, the expressions of the characters in the originals suggest a different mood for the character (i.e. Reinhard being pissed off vs. coldly attentive). In the case where Oppenheimer attempts to bribe Reinhard with a painting, that attitude fits, but probably not with his overall character. Maybe the director thought he should be more steely, to give an impression of unbiased order.
>>139513408
Fraulein is super cute
>>139516015
I'm not the one who made the spoiler dump, I'm calling you a retard for crying about it
How the hell are people actually spoiled by spoilers? I lurked these threads for years while the show sat on my backlog. Reading spoilers doesn't unravel the entire plot and remove the reason to watch - it provides a milestone to reach, like "oh shit I'd love to see what causes THAT".
Or maybe I'm just weird.
>>139516143
Who cares who the fuck you are? Go wallow in whatever shit-tier general you call home, nobody wants you here.
>>139516282
No, I'm the same way, spoilers usually only get me more excited, or let me know to drop things in advance, as was the case with Boys On The Run.
But getting spoiled through discussion vs pointless spoiler spamming is two different things.
>>139516282
I'm the same way, they don't bug me much, especially if it's something I'm not even currently watching.
I'm still not enough of a fucking moron to intentionally go into a thread on /a/ for a show I haven't finished though.
>>139516282

LoGH is great, but it's so far out of the norm (in terms of the plot, characters, and themes) that it's hard to compare it to other anime. It's really more apt to compare it to western TV shows than other anime.
>>139525258
Julian made for a fine successor to Yang, all things considered, but he totally lacked Yang's lazy, happy-go-lucky brand of charisma. In that sense, he filled in well in-universe, but just wasn't all that entertaining to watch.
